I30 fuel tank and looking to buy

I'm a little perplexed. Earlier this year I drove my 96 I30 till it drained the tank and would barely make it to the gas station (I found out then that my low fuel light doesn't work anymore) when I filled it up, the pump said 17.59 gallons.

Now everywhere else I look says we have an 18.5 gallon tank. That doesn't quite make sense.

I'm also looking to purchase another I30. A 98 or 99 would be nice. Auto or Manual. With around 100k on it. It needs to run well with no major mechanical or body problems and be around $4,000 or so. Obviously depending on condition.

I've checked the classifieds but nobody is selling their's.

If I get one I'll be selling mine for parts or for very little. Likely under $1,000. (96 I30, 247,xxx, sold stock except for intake and possibly exhaust)
