I'm looking at purchasing a 97 I30 Touring and my mechanic buddy said that he remembers how the Q45's use to have some kind of active suspension where hoses to the shocks would leak and it was several thousand dollars to repair- he said to beware if this I30 had a similar suspension...

I know nothing about Ininiti's. Anyone here know what he was talking about? This car looks and drives good. I'd like to make an offer on it. Are they good cars? Anything like these possibly leaky shocks I should be aware of?

Thanks pros!

A '97 I30t is a great car. I have not heard of that in the I30. However, if there is an I30 with that, and the suspension fails, upgrade it to aftermarket parts, and it'll only cost you around $700-800 to change out springs and struts. If the car is in good shape, I say buy it. FYI, since it is a '97, it may be in need of new struts anyways.

He was correct that Infiniti's Active suspension can be expensive to repair, but the I30 never came with Active suspension, so you don't need to worry about that.
