Ok so i could smell burning oil for the longest time.. But i was keeping an eye on the oil level and it has been fine. But the outher day i went to check the oil and it was down half. So i toped it up, but today i went out for a drive and by a chance i looked in the rear view mirrior at the perfect time and saw a cloud of blue smoke. Ever since then ive been looking but havent seen it again. But i can still smell it. I just replaced the head gasket a couple of months ago. Do you think this could be the turbo? My car has 110 000 kilometers on it. Thanks for the help ahead of time. Kris.

it could be turbo seals, check your intercooler piping for oil, if theres some oil then u have turbo blow by (a sign of weak/dying turbo seals).

check if it lets out of a puff of blue smoke on start up (this could be valve seals or guides)

also u could do a compression test to check your rings.

also check you oil return line.. werid incidemtn hapened to me

1/oil was leaking from oil return line to oil pan

2/oil was burning off on the downpipe and blowing by underneath the car

3/clouds of oil smoke was blowing out the rear as if i was burning oil from motor but it came from underneath the car.. so yeah check everything

Ok well when i start it up it dosent smoke what so ever. I noticed that when i had the intercooler piping apart that there was oil in it.. But is a little oil normall? I think im going to have to get a compression test done and see what they say. Thanks for the help.

A little oil means the problem has just started. You might also put in a new PCV valve. It could be that it's bad and if the crankcase is under boost the turbo seals can't hold the oil back and it will start burning it. Lastly, don't get a copmression test done, but a leakdown test. This is a much better way to determine the condition of the rings.

Ok so i got the prob figured out it's my turbo. So i picked up a sr20det turbo. The question that i have is when i clock this thing. will the sr20det downpipe clear everything if i use the 02 extention from the sr? I have heared mixed reactions some say it will hit some say it wont. I have a 180sx if that matters at all. Thanks for the help.
