Very interesting! Be careful with psychiatrists (no pun intended) . You may one day be taking a short nap at work, and realize that you have been euthanized, and may never return from that nap (just kiddng).Sentientbydesign wrote:Does anybody else have this problem...?
I can't seem to work for incompetent people. I lose respect for them very quickly, then start to take over the show. At that time, they get mad and all hell breaks loose.
The Scenario-
I just applied for a seemingly "perfect" job. They want someone who can do almost everything or is willing to learn how to do everything. I LOVE THAT. Never a dull moment and I always end up on top.
So I get a reply back from the guy about 20 mins later asking me to call him. I do and realize that he is disorganized, cheap, and as eloquent as a misfiring VQ.
Update- Just learned that he is a Board Certified Psychiatrist who promotes Euthanasia...Now I'm intrigued again.
I still have an "Alpha Complex" if you will. It is EXTREMELY applicable with my current "supervisor". I seem to respect authority more when it is responsible, logical, and comes across as an authority... not a wal-mart sales associate.
Thanks for reading. Mods, please delete before thinking about sending to GC.
I can't stand morons who are in management/supervisory positions. I work at a government institution and it's mind boggling to see how many 10, 15, 25 year service awards are given to lazy SOBs who don't do their job.AZhitman wrote:There's a difference between True Alphas and people with an Alpha Complex.
One of them gets their a$$ kicked a lot.

SO, what happened? Where's the venting?
...which is why you'll never be a true Alpha.Sentientbydesign wrote:I do much better when I'm in charge of them so I can yell at them and ask them why they're being stupid.
Whats wrong with general chat ? LOLSentientbydesign wrote:Thanks for reading. Mods, please delete before thinking about sending to GC.

On a happier note, glad you can vent here - It's better than an expensive therapist!
The rapist that may make you recycle your food... if I'm reading between the lines correctly BARF!AZhitman wrote:

I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.Sentientbydesign wrote:
Do I have to beat them up in order to be an Alpha, or just get them to do what I want out of pure fear?
My lack of "Alpha-hood" must stem from my distaste for most beer. I'm better with a top-shelf margarita or some vodka... X-rated FTW!!!smockers83 wrote:So where does the 12 pack of Coors come in?

One of those just recently extended her stay at some sort of "job related event" and then took two weeks vacation which means she got a 3 or 4 week vacation on company time and the University is probably footing the bill for most of her expenses while at the "job related event".
Same goes for my immediate supervisor. I didn't realize how many people really NEED Zoloft, prozac...etc. When things get stressful, she doesn't take it in stride, she blows up and wants things done her way...well sorry, Charlie, but things don't work that way. If I'm getting things done in a more efficient manner than you, then it's your job as a supervisor to shut you F#*$ing trap and LEARN, not to say "Well, that's not the way I do things. You should really try my way, because it has 18 more steps."
I won't claim to be perfect by any means, but I'll be damned if I don't try to be better than most. This psychiatrist has an organization devoted to euthanasia...specifically: refusing food or water as a means of hastening death.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to see a loved one suffer, but damn...2 websites, a 501(c)? non-profit organization and membership? Plus a book, phone consultation service, audio clips, video clips, information on using a proxy for your final decisions.
It was very morbid...and I'm supposedly negative, so I should have fit right in.
I might have to follow my mother's advice and get another business license. I have a hard time working with incompetent people. I do much better when I'm in charge of them so I can yell at them and ask them why they're being stupid.
There...I feel better now....I just need to figure out how to be independently wealthy soon, so Crystal and I can move down to Carlsbad...Anybody need a personal chef/mechanic/graphic designer/entrepreneur/bowler?
The only beers I truly like are red ales (Killians), darker beers, and Sam Adams. Rum and coke, SoCo and lime, Purple Rains in a fishbowl, sangria, and what's called a Crack Pipe are among my favorites. Me and vodka haven't been the best of friends, but we're getting better. We had a large disagreement a few years ago...I wanted it to stay down, it wanted to come up...it won, big time.Sentientbydesign wrote:

I appreciate your POV, but I'm a pretty thorough person. When I say people aren't doing their jobs, I mean it.smockers83 wrote:

I hear you though on the university job, but I'll vent for a slightly different reason. I was a supervisor while in school for a university department and always heard complaints about higher ups not doing their job from low totem pole full timers, which got really annoying to be honest. Some of it was true, but a lot of it was just not understanding. If someone was gone for 2.5 hours for lunch, they couldn't conceive that it included lunch and a meeting outside of the building, which, 95% of the time was the case. The one they complained about the most was the director for the program that generates the most money in the department outside of membership fees. Little did they know or want to know that she had to be at other facilities the department has in order to do business. There were a lot of other complaints that were misguided, but I'm just going to leave it at that for now.
I actually have held management positions. I resigned because I couldn't handle working that part time and this job full time.numskul wrote:If you're so friggin' smart, why aren't you in the management position? If you ARE so friggin' smart-maybe they aren't so dumb for hiring you. Give yourself some credit. Perhaps with enough time and a better attitude toward authority they will promote you.If you don't want to be surrounded by laziness and nepotism, get out of government sector jobs.
