i just bought this truck as a project and dnt really know much. Its a single cab on 3-4inch drop blocks, 2.4 nap z engine w/ a 32/36 webber carb. it has no power steering and the entire ac system has been taken out. I had a few friends look at the truck and told me the engine runs strong but the owner i bought it from said more power can be drawn to its full potential.

i want this truck to be my daily driver but also have a street racing feeling to the truck in the engine and suspension when im in the mood.

so far i have changed the oil, transmission fluid and transfer case with full synthetic and lucas synthetic. I replaced the carb filter and thats pretty much it.

Im looking to find more power to the engine and have no idea where to start or what parts to buy for the nap z. anybody have any suggestions from parts to buy, brands, or anything at all. My friends told me to replace the headers and the straight pipe exaughst too. anybody have any input on that too?

Im also looking to replacing the front and back suspension, im looking for a smooth easy ride on drop springs (the truck is riding too low for me making it dificult to maneuver on bumps bc of the no power steering).

Thanks

Just do a little digging, man. We have tons of stuff here in the DIY section and whatnot that should help you along. The Z24 is no power monster, at all. If you want more power you really need to swap, but some headers, and a full exhaust will help, for sure. Exhaust diameter should be no more than 2.25" and some good shocks are all you really need for a street setup. Hope that helps, man. Trust me, you don't want to do what I did to mine if you drive it on the street.

pick n pull a power steering pump and any onther parts u mite need , sporty ???? not if its a 4x4 that works then you can get to just about any where u want to go . you can make it loud cherry bomb it , headers , weber carb ,,,, :ohno: still a turtle fast is not an option but it it'll always finish the race , also a few dents give it all the attitude it needs  but you'll grow to love the truck if you keep it long enough , also the fancy after market foot pedals and shifter . gauges fog lights , as for fast mite want to find a four wheeler or a dirt bike to put in the back of the truck gl

my first nissan 720 (1985 2 wheel drive, w/turbo) could get over 120mph going up a pass (not average for 720's though)... so it can be done with the z24 in it, depends upon how fast your aiming for? stop light race sure... track prob not. it helps a lot if you slap a turbo on it :) killing off the emissions/warm air helps too. but if its a 4x4 over 100 is farther away.

also, clean out/replace the fuel pump filter, most people over look that one (there are 3 filters on a 720... inline tank, pump, & carb)
& make sure you use good plugs and wires, auto-lite is not an option for max performance

p.s. alot of the 80's z series (like the 200zx)performance parts interchange with the 720's z24, not all but quite a few and alot easier to find

this is my first project ever and im learning as i go on with the build so i really appriciate the help.

a turbo z24 sounds really good, as for speed, i see it better than trying to get more power out of a stock engine. where should i start off at with a turbo, i garantee ill want to upgrade it later for more power, just dnt know where to start off.

thanks for the heads up bud, ill take a look at the filters and interchangable parts with the z series.
