My car is breaking up. Sometimes at idle, sometimes during driving. Never had a problem when at 100% throttle. I know I'm fouling plugs. My fuel pressure might be a tad high. Problem seems to be worse when its wet out. Ideas?

Ignitor? To rich? Coil packs?

if you havent replaced all spark plugs already, do it. This is gonna sound really odd, but i once cracked the ceramic part of the plug unknowingly, and this caused me to have massive breakup issues in random areas.

other than that, try reverting back to stock boost and fuel pressure, your last known 100% working functioning configuration and go from there

I am on stock boost. I never had it running good. This is an on going problem I'm trying to fix to get it running right.

(just for rico)

sure sounds like a coil pack issue. though it could be a vac issue......

LOL @ Gabby. That's good stuff.

You almost need to get it to the point where it's a repeatable problem. Something that you can get to fail at will. That will allow you to start narrowing things down. Until then, it's probably going to be a pain to figure out.

If it doesn't ever seem to get worse, and it just stays random and doesn't change, it's probably not an ignition problem. I know I sound like a broken record, but double and triple check all of your grounds. Go get some big 4 or 2 gauge wire from the hardware store and add grounds. If it's an electrical problem, it will only get worse if you leave it alone.

If it's a vac problem, then it will probably stay constant and may be harder to find.

Vacuum problem would be consistant issue. This is way to intermident to be vacuum. The motor could be fully warmed up or just started. Something is causing an overfueling issue which is causing my spark plugs to fool. Thats why I think it might be the ignitor. Coil packs look fine, no cracks. I recently replaced the spark plugs and every issue went away for a few days then it slowly started to back to the way it was.

So if I put new spark plugs in, the car will run fine.

Did you wire in your oxygen sensor and do you know if it is functioning properly? ANd if you don't hook-up the hose to for the cold start valve/solenoid, expect problems. Take a reading fromthe ecu to make sure things are normal. You guys are forgetting the basics before posting your issues. You gotta help us help you by doing the preliminary tests before bringing it to the forum for discussion. So check the ecu's codes and please check your o2 sensor's readings. Just because it came from Japan doesn't mean they are any good. They get banged-up during shipping and crack the ceramics internally, but it looks totally normal from the outside. Do the research 'Champ' and get back to us with your findings.

I've been having this same ungoing problem and I always check this for you guys. No codes. O2 and knock sensor wired up and working. Well driving the sensor reads .45-.50 volts. Full throttle, it reads .5-.65 volts. At idle its around .5 volts. My cold start is hooked up and functioning correctly.
