I need advice regarding 30000 Mile service

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

My 05 Nissan Sentra Car will be due for 30,000 miles service soon. The dealer gave me a quation of $ 500 up and local shops seems to be half og the price. Is it a good idea to do the service with a local shop like pepboys or firestone?
