I can't believe nobody has mentioned this with so many intakes being installed.....

I, for one, think that the INJEN intake is HORRIBLE quality!! How can they claim that the MR2 is the first "tuned" intake? The inside of my tube has nothing but snotty and rough welds, poorly cut holes for the MAF sensor and then bad welding where the adapter is mounted. Where the large end of the tube reduces to the small end, there is this nasty weld that i think would interupt any "smooth" air flowing through the thing!

The intake is currently at my job and i'm at home. I'll take pictures of what i'm talking about and post them.

Has anybody else noticed these un-acceptable quality issues? Maybe mine was a reject that got out of the factory?

The captions say (from left to right) "I could have done a better job with a dremel, even a torch!" "Tuned intake? I'd say this is the 'interupter' version!" "I guess the tube tore during manufacturing so it was welded back together"

I believe I was the first here on NICO to get the Injen for the 3.5 back in Aug, and it was of exceptional quality. Mine was absolutely flawless in every way. In fact, on my how-to thread I noted the great quality of the piece. Maybe yours was a reject? Or maybe with this recent group buy, Injen had to rush the orders; thereby, sacrificing quality?

I was right at the front of the goup by, I had recieved one that one on the shelf (not too many 3.5 owners were looking for black intakes)

I'll take some pictures and update my first post, you can compare what you remember from your own. I'll post pics tomorrow

not to mention then exterior black paint seems kinda like it was hit with 2000 grit sandpaper or something, its not a spectacular finish. Maybe this thing is used??

I looked at mine before I installed it and all the welds are beautiful, the inside is smooth. Probably yours was a "reject" but I would definitely post up some pics and at least give kyle form Stillen a chance to rectify the problem. The one thing that I am concerned about is the location of the MAF sensor. People are saying that it rubbing but not sure where. I'm deducting that it is rubbing on the hood liner....

ditto , my intake was flawless... however, to be honest, i've seen the fujita intake in person, and those that claim fujita's is of better quality have a good argument... that said, the rubbnig issue appears to affect the 2.5 more so than the 3.5

yeah aside from the botch-job tubing, i'm not crazy about the idea of the MAF sensor position. Just the fact that it sticks straight up,

I have to agree with Shift_Mikey. When I installed mine, I notice there was a bit of tension on the wire harness that plugs into th MAF sensor. Would of been better if the MAF was more like in the 2 or 3 o'clock position. None the less, I think I'm going to watch it closely as time goes on. Heavy duty shrink wrap might be an option.

Ok people i updated the first post with photo's. Tell me what you guys think? I think for the money (even at the group buy discount) that this is terrible quality. I would pay no more then $75 for this.

Being a manufacturing engineer I've seen bad and had to assign repairs, but that's bad even for a rookie welder. If anything, they could have used a some kind of deburring devise and ground/polished it flush for repair.

I'm about ready to write a review on customer satisfaction for stillen. This company is one of the best i've dealt with in a long time.

Kyle thanks for looking at the pictures and getting the ball rolling. Margaret has been in touch and asking what she can do to help. All of this within 4 hours of post pictures.

A++++ service for Stillen! I WILL BE A REPEAT STILLEN CUSTOMER!!

Now lets just hope that my new intake is of much better quality then this one LOL

Just when i thought stillen was great, they get even better

I swapped a few e-mails with Kyle. He has agreed to personally inspect the new intake before it is sent to me to make sure its not the same story or anything else wrong with it.

I hope i don't get kyle in trouble and i hope he doesn't get flooded with special requests. I think he's just trying to lend a hand because he understand exactly what i'm talking about.

Sheesh!..I think Ray Charles with a dremel can do better. That is so unacceptable! But I'm happy to see that Stillen is doing everything they can to rectify this issue for you. Hope things work our for you!

You should have Mikey. You should reply back and tell them that Stillen is all over it and that Stillen is rectifying their problem! The way I see it, you are the one that is being shafted. You paid a $$ for a superior product and you didn't get that.

I guess I get older, my tolerance for incompetency is going down hill and I tend to voice my opinion a lot, whether they want to hear it or not.
