I'm thinking about getting a bra for my 2006 350Z. Any recommendations?

I want to install a bra mainly to protect the underside of the nose. I've already scraped it while entering a high driveway and one of those parking space concrete stop things. I read that Colgan is the best as far as fit. I also read some not so good things about Cover Craft and Le Bra as far as fit and quality. Does anyone have any opinions? Any good or bad experiences with bras?

Make sure you wash under it otherwise dirt will get under it and wreck the paint.

That's not gonna work - If you're scraping the nose, you need to learn to maneuver differently (I have to do the same with my G Coupe).

A bra can damage the paint - I'd skip it. Get a 3M clearbra for paint protection, and drive / park more carefully to protect the underside of the bumper (or, just repaint it every couple years).

I had a Colgan on my other cobra and it was great. However, don't leave it on there if it gets wet!!!!

I would take the other's advise and skip the bra.

3M Clearbra on the nose of this 350Z. Can you see it? No? Good! Now go buy it.

Just like what AZhitman said...don't bother getting a bra for the front. A guy I knew had one on his Accord for about 2.5years. When he decided to take it off, the paint difference was like a bad suntan line. He tried everything to make the color match but had no luck in doing so.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my question. I apologize for the late response. I'm new to this forum thing, and I was unable to find this post until today. I bought my 2006 Z about 3 wks ago and joined 2 other forums, I forgot which forum I posted this to. I'll take the advice and look into the clear bra. I thought that that was the better of the 2 options but I just didn't want to go that direction because of the expense and possible nightmare installation problems (i.e. orange peel look, strecthing, and scratches).

A clear bra will do little to protect from scraping concrete. And typically, it does not wrap around underneath the bumper. The Z has low overhangs. You need to be more careful with dips and curbs. And stop well short of the concrete blocks in parking lots. The Z is a short enough car overall that you'll likely still fit all the way in the parking spot without having to be over it.

I with these guys...no only do regular bra's look tacky, they trap dirt and act like sand paper while causing uneven fading of your cars paint....

GET digi shield, its what the clear bra is called. Even so, i'd still not put those on, bra's ruin cars. The part of the car thats protected eventually becomes a different color anyways, and the digi shield will start to turn brown, or unclear after time goes on and you'll have to have it re-applied every two years or so. The only time i'd use a bra is on long highway trips, nothing else.

I'd opt for the 3M as well.

it's not very noticeable unless you're about a yard from the car, if then, people are like "bitchin'! 3M!"

remember however, when you go to remove it, paint will probably come with it.

Thanks everyone. You all made some very good points. It's clear to me that I still need to do more research.

Just drive carefully over bumps and such. For road trips look into an OEM Nissan bra to reduce rock chips, scrapes, bug guts, etc. Just don't leave it on for an extended period of time

Go with the clear bra. The other will destroy your paint.

My bra (that you cant really see) is called "clear edge", I think the film used is 3M. The tough part is dealing with the seams when it comes time to wax or Zaino (in my case).

I have a "Stone Shield" clear bra that I got from a local dealer in the Memphis area. It has a lifetime warranty. Got the complete front bumper and about 1/3 of the hood covered, as well as the side fenders and the back of the mirrors covered for $600...a little expensive to get installed, but it's that -or a new paint job! I'm happy with it...virtually invisible and easy to clean!

I'm getting my done next week . The product will be venture tape.

Same thing, life time warrinty will not discolor and all you have to do is take care of it the same way you take care of your paint.

$600.00

Dont do it! A bra totally trahes the look of a car, and if your worried about scratching it on curbs and likewise a bra isint going to help much
