Hey there,

I recently noticed some trouble with my car, which is a 93 hatchback, automatic, with about 170k miles. I drove it pretty hard about two days ago, and since then I have noticed that the acceleration has been really laggy. I bought this car at the beginning of the year and as far I know the ka and everything in that area is stock, when I go to accelerate, my car refuses to rev higher, even with the pedal to the floor, and then after a few seconds it will finally respond. It wasn't doing this before really, but my acceleration has always been laggy compared to my friends ka. I have done some searching but I have had trouble finding people with similar problems, I know this is difficult to diagnose as there are many possible issues. I have had some transmission issues before this. If you need anymore information I will try my best to provide it.

Thanks in advance for any help!

p.s. I have been running my car with the AC pretty much the whole week, I don't know if that can have any effect on it.

Could've had some sludge build-up that you moved into another area where it clogged up... Catalytic converter (The miniature muffler looking thing in the middle of your exhaust) might have become clogged.

I had a severe lag thing going on when my engine ground busted... you might want to check that out. The one that broke on me was on the driver's side of the car, going from the back of the head to the firewall, kinda near where the plug wires were. It was pretty bad.

Can someone please tell me what this is? I'm in the process of removing the engine and well I'm just perplexed. Any information would be appreciated.

I'm assuming you're pointing at the power steering line...

Pretty sure there is no wiper relay dude. These cars have an "amp" that controls the different settings for the wipers.

I also read somewhere of someone with similar issues because a pin in the amp connector was bent.

The black one looks like part of the framing on the underside of the hood. The gray one welds in somewhere, but I don't yet have a clue where.

Thanks for the information. Im looking into it more as I go, but I talked with a guy, friend of a friend, who seemed to be an absolute genius when it came to 240s, and when I told him about the problem he told me to replace the relay because he had almost the same problem with one of his three. I found a blue box under the driver side dash above the foot rest next to the clutch, but im not sure if that is it. Anyone want to identify it for me? haha

Seriously dude... that amp is what acts as a relay for your wipers; there isn't another one. Some people may call it a relay...

If you've checked the pins and wiring and found no flaws, then you may have to replace this unit. It's expensive, BUT if it's the same as the amp relay thingy used in the S13, I found one on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0042909893

You're friend of a friend may be a "240 genius" but he's confusing amp for relay. Good luck.

about to swap my sr into my vert but have a quick question:

when buying a radiator... is an aftermarket fan absolutely necessary? would the stock fan/fan clutch be enough to cool temps down or will I have to hook up an aftermarket electric dual fan like mishimotos? will buying this ( http://www.frsport.com/DIF-10085-Thermo ... 15992.html ) be a bit overkill? how did people hook up an aftermarket electric fan without this module?

I just use the stock AC fan and have it rigged to a switch. If you ground one of the terminals of the relay, it triggers the fan on.

OEM fans are enough, but most people would recommend all electric...

so if i go and add two electric fans.. i will have to use that fan controller to have it set to a certain temp correct? what are my setup options if I choose to add electric?

Well, depending on how good you are at wiring, you could probably splice it into your factory harness so it comes on with your standard ECU, or use the controller box and hook that into your factory coolant temp sensor wire, or use the controller box and use an axillary temp sensor in the radiator, or just wire it up to a manual switch.

i hate to seem annoying bringing this up again, but I really need to know where that hood ledge goes, Ive called the guy i bought it off of, hes worthless, the local Nissan import place deals primarily with S13's and inst familiar, Google has got nothing, local forums nothing...any idea would be awesome, its the only thing stopping me from moving onto the rest of the front end.

Not gonna lie, I have no idea what you are talking about. Chances are you posted something sometime somewhere in this thread, but I'm not about to go hunting for it. Post a refresher (or quote your last post).

upper hood ledge for an S14... if you don't know where it goes, why did you buy it (do you even need it)? Try looking at the FSM and see if you can see anything that looks like it.

To me it almost looks like the beginning of the frame rail that kinda goes up into the engine bay from under the car.

Un fortunatley I didn't but it. The car came taken apart with a trunk load of oem parts. And I've checked the FSM and I've got nothing.

maybe you don't need it? I mean, if there's a problem with the car, then you replace it... if there's no problem, then why go wasting your time replacing stuff?

I found the part number on a look-up, but I can't find it anywhere on the breakdown of the S14. I'll include a picture and hopefully it'll help you figure it out. I'm surprised someone sold you a car THAT disassembled.

One question.
I have a Rb25 In my 240 and I also have a 3 inch catback exhaust and a 3 Inch Downpipe.
Well I'm pretty sure the engine comes with a 2.5 inch stock turbo elbow. Do I need to get a 3 inch turbo exhaust? I am not sure what to do to get the most preformance?

So I'm back with more questions and pictures. I'm still working on pulling the engine and trans and these are the last two connections to the trans I can find but do not know what they are (or if they're nescessary to keep for a 5 speed swap). Any help is appreciated:
