Ok. Deep breath, I have a '77 620, The Charge light came on... No biggie, Replaced the alternator, the voltage regulator, bought a new battery, (needed one anyway) made sure the new belt was nice and snug...Why is the G%^#damn light still on?! What damage am I doing driving to work every day? Is there something I'm missing? Any advice would be greatly appreiciated!

Next time your in your ride give the dash a good smack on top just above your gauges. Sometimes one of my blinkers stays on for whatever reason and this helps.

did you have the new alternator tested be when you bought it? I had a problem where I replaced everything and the light stayed on and the brand new alt was bad. They had to test 2 of them before they found one that would put out the correct amps. You could always do the poor mans check and pull a cable off and see if she dies or not. The truck should be able to run with the headlights on low beam once the battery is disconected. That will give you a good idea if the alternator is actually any good. Hope it helps.

Thanks dallasca, I did indeed replace the new alternator and it was bad. the new-new alt is in the car and the freakin' light is still on! if I have to install a third one I'm gonna lose it on Autozone!

I was having tons of problems with mine before did you check the wiring and connectors going into the alternator. I ended up putting in an internally regulated 60 amp alternator from a 79 510 and haven't had any more issues.
