It's been a while but I have returned. I picked up an 06 Pearl White G35 Coupe 6mt last month and have been loving it (except for the mileage).

Pretty well loaded with everthing but the Brembos. The 19 in Rays wheels are nice but after seeing the price of tires i may switch to 18's.

That's about it. It's pretty much stock except for an intake at the moment.

I do have a question though. I want a 3.5 aux audio cable installed and Best Buy said it would be 200. I have no intention of letting them do anything to my car but I was surpriced at thier rediculous quote. Can anyone point to a DIY? I searched but only found stuff about isheep, I mean iPods.

Sorry mods. This should probably be moved to the "Introduce yourself section" since I'm new to the "G" crowd.

Sounds like a good pick up. I have the Rays 19s on my Maxima and pay about $600 for a set of tires. You just have to do some searching and you can find the right price. If you do decide to get rid of them, I may be interested in taking the front two off your hands :D

Sadly, I don't know anything about audio stuff. Hopefully someone will chime in that knows.

What are you trying to do? Pretty much all of the iPad solutions also accomodate generic 3.5 aux jack needs. Most include the adapter, but they're pretty cheap if not included.

you want a 3.5 audio cable installed on the stock unit? or you planning to replace the stock unit?

im trying to remember if my old 2005 g35x had a Aux setting... i dont remember it having that. which might explain the cost, as they would be doing some fabication to add that feature since the stock radio doesnt have it. (im not saying the parts for a 3.5 jack is worth $200 but that the labor might at least be worth $70-$100)

it might be easier, and you should get some extra features, to just replace the stock radio with an aftermarket radio. This is all assuming the stock radio doesnt already have an Aux setting with a plug in the glove compartment or in center console.

The solutions I've seen use a little module that goes on the back of the head unit, intercepting the antenna signal, and work off the Sat or Radio button, depending on the year model. As noted, they most if not all accomodate generic 3.5mm plugging for MP3 players, etc.

I was really surprised that id didnt have an aux input. Ill stock with the stock head unit. The Bose system is fine for me. I guess i have to pick up that module mudgen spoke of then.

If there is an AUX plug where would it be? I checked the console, the front of the stereo. Even the ash tray and glove box.

I think I saw pricing from about $30 to about $80. IIRC, there are two different kinds that do about the same thing.

Edit: $200 is probably not outrageous for turnkey installation with wires run nicely to a port mounted in the console. But there are how-to pictorials and vids out there that make it look pretty simple to DIY.

yeah i agree id look at the DIY videos and see if you are up for a self install before paying that much for a 3.5 jack...

Thanks.

I think what I'll probably do is just upgrade the head unit to a double din unit that has AUX, ipod, bluetooth, hd radio etc. Ive been finding them at pretty reasonable prices.

Care to send a link where you get your tires from, or is that a local hookup?

I'm in southern California so I'm not sure if they ship or not. It's called American Tire Depot and they have locations all over southern California.

Yeah. Outwardly I probably wont change much aside from a black vinal roof and wheels with coilovers. I have no idea what I want to do for power but my budget is small so I guess my options are limited.

I think an unpainted CF hood and trunk with a vinal roof would look sick but thats a bit $$$$.

Tires are not that bad if you stay with stock sizes. Move up to 245/275 and they can be a bit more. For cheap performance tires the Hankook v12 are pretty good. If you have to drive in the occasional Cincy snow then you may want a decent set of all-seasons. I'm running ContiExtreme DWS on both my G's and they do OK. Granted I did have a icing issue a couple years ago on I71 outside KY Speedway where the car started slipping sideways on a bridge that was iced up...luckily it was a short bridge and I didn't have to poop. i was running Hankook V4's at the time which suck.

idk if NITTO makes the MOTIVO tire in 19s... they are High Performance All seasons with a 580 tread wear. i run them on my car, low cost tire but great quality and grip. if i remember right i was under $600 with new valve stems and N2 filled tires.
