so i bought an Autometer Phantom Oil Pressure gauge right? the fittings included didn't match to the stock oil pressure sensor on the block so i went out and bought the Autometer 1/8" NPT to 1/8" BSPT adapter, didnt' fit either! it looks as though the pitch is off on the autometer bspt adapter? is anyone running an Mechanical Oil Pressure gauge and having or had this problem? im so frustrated right now i just want to sell my motor, but im not lol.. someone please help me!?!?!?

So what sized fitting did your oil pressure gauge come with?

The oil pressure fitting in the block should be 1/8" bsp...

I will measure it for you when I get home this arvo if you like...

yes please. thats what i read and thougth as well..that it was 1/8" bsp but it looked like the autometer fitting didn't have the right "THREAD PITCH".. and NOBODY sells these types of thing around here..

Have you tried the autometer fitting or did you just look at it?

Out of curiosity, do you know if the stock thread was ever crossthreaded and retapped with different thread?

I will measure to confirm, but I am bloody sure its a 1/8" bsp thread in the block..

i tried for 15 minutes. i dont believe it was retapped or anything because the stock pressure unit was still intact and still threads in fine. i did take the autometer part back, since i was in a pissy mood..but if i can clear this up and maybe get it to work, i'll go back and get it lol. But yea, im 99.999% sure its a 1/8" BSP, cuz i KNOW the NPT doesn't work so..maybe i just didn't give enough patience.

http://store.summitracing.com/...w=sku^^^this is what i bought..the threads just dont look the same either. but i dont think it will fit in the block.

should i just suck it up and buy an Oil Filter Sandwhich thing for like $40 from Glowshift Direct and use the NPT threads, or try and figure it out this way?

http://www.glowshiftdirect.com....aspx^^(what size would i buy for the CA if i decide to go that route?)

You had to have screwed-up the thread pitch or putting it in at angle because I've tried the majority of the autometer oil pressure gauges and they all thread into the fitting on the block. But again, if you put it in at the wrong angle (trying to put it in with the engine in the car) and you're not used to dealing with these sensors with the engine in the car, you're going to catch hell. I have that sending unit in my car as we speak and it threaded in just fine with the use of a 14mm wrench to tighten it up. Good luck with that..........

i have a mechanical gauge and the autometer kit had all NPT threads and didn't fit. the stock one still screws 100% fine, but i can't even get the Autometer BSP adapter to start.

the autometer part number 2269 is not the right size i dont believe. it doesn't thread in at all from what i've gathered so its good i didn't waste my money lol im just going to get an Oil Filter Adapter so i can have the oil press and oil temp (coming later). im sure it'll be good.

BTW, anybody know the size needed for the Oil Filter Adapter? I measured my Oil Filter (not installed yet) and it looked to be about 19mm. is that right? Thanks

Dude, save yourself the headache and use the electric gauge. I don't think there'smany folks around here using the mechanical oil pressure gauge. Anywho, the electric one is the unit I'm referring to and they thread right into the stock CA oil switch port.

Like I said, you have to thread them perfectly. I've done too many of them less the drama you're having. Just take your time and it should work just fine.

i went out today and just cannot even get any of my 1/8" NPT threads to start. the stock oil unit still threads in like a charm on the first try. I measure the threads on the stock unit and on the other NPT threads and there is a difference in diameter. Maybe i just have one weird CA18 idk lol but i just cannot get them in. like i said, they start fine, but can't get them to go in more than 1/4 to 1/2 turn then they just fall out

just incase, anybody know the size for the oil filter adapter? lol

well i sucked it up, took the old mechanical one back. and will be buying a new Autometer Phantom Electric Oil Pressure gauge in the next day or two. i guess i mind as well try it, if it works coolio, if not, well then i gotta buy the oil filter adapter anyway lol but isn't it a fact that you can't run oil or fuel into the cabin in any events for that matter?

I have an auto meter electric gauge and it won't thread in either. I tried for a good 15 minutes. It looks like it will fit and the thread look good but it's slightly thicker.

The threads are the same, the diameter is different. I had this same problem. IIRC most of the stuff you find in the US is NPT, the thread on the CA is BSPT. Find an adapter and you'll be all set. Also, it's very hard to do with the motor in the car.

I thought i replied, but hadn't my bad...

Will gauruntee 100% that the oil sender fitting in the block on the CA18 is 1/8" BSP

Hope this sorts it out for you...
