Yeah, the 2nd keyboard and speakers are for the Surface, which feeds the primary input of the top monitor. That way, I can watch videos properly when running fullscreen apps and games on the main computer. Its nice to have dedicated play/pause controls while in a game, as well as separate volumes.
I've thought about putting one of my little i5 machines back there instead of the Surface, but the Surface's Hello Camera unlock means I don't really have to use the keyboard much on that one, which is definitely more convenient. I just have a second mouse over to the side that I use to open up youtube or amazon or netflix or whatever.
I've tried apps like Synergy or Flow and such to use one mouse and keyboard across multiple machines, but it generally defeats the point of having multiple machines in my eyes, so I stick with two. Then there's a Thinkpad over on the left for things like google searches while the other two are in use.
