Legit question.
Ray, here is your answer.

"So young was Charlie at that time that he, in typical childlike manner, called his brother “Rain Man” because that’s the way the name Raymond sounded to him."

it's got the 3.0 sohc v6. which, according to my wikipedia research, was also used in a bunch of dsm vehicles, so parts should be relatively available. damn you making me rethink just unloading it as a beater.

And Charlie was supposed to be the smart one!

That engine was in my family's 1992 Chrysler minivan. That engine lasted almost 15 years...

That freaking V6 is one of the oldest engines in the universe. One of my favorite examples of awful engineering was the late-model Eclipse V6 with the 3.8 liter variant of that fat lazy hog sagging 100% of its iron-block flab out in front of the front axle. They're still friggin' using it outside the US.

I have always had a weak spot for the early-90s Diamante, though. BMW-copy-done-right styling, sporty-for-a-front-driver Japanese handling, moderately not-gutless...
Yeah. They were pretty good.

Why was the movie Rain Man called Rain Man?
When a tiny toddler, Tom Cruise's character could not say Dustin Hoffman's character's name "Raymond" clearly ... he called him "Rain Man".

Drove a new Q50 (?) with the TT 3.0 last night. Jeeeesh, that thing can haul some a**! It handles decently enough for a big car, but that steering is nuuuuuuuumb.

The TT Q50 is pretty awesome. Especially the Red Sport. They are doing crazy things with them already, but I've also seen multiple posts about blown motors with less than 10k miles on them too and a lot of issues. Hopefully they get them sorted at some point but there sure are a lot of negatives out there right now on them.

If you drove a stock regular TT Q50 then mine is faster Ray. The 3.7 NA makes more HP and TQ. The sad part though is with a cheap tune it'll whoop my cars a**. The Red Sports are 400hp stock though so there is no comparison there.

you guys are not helping. i need to verify the e-brake works. if it does, we're going to just flat tow it to my house. it's located around the corner, but it'll be downhill to my house, so we need to be able to slow/stop it from running into the trailer hitch of my friend's truck.

Just tie an old used tire to the back of your tow vehicle, without the wheel in it I might add, and there ya go. Problem solved :)

So no kidding, I'm from good ole Alabama where the good ideas flow as fast as the beer does, I have a friend who: not only tried to pull his truck off with another vehicle, but was successful at it... But his little Ford Ranger did about $3k worth of damage to his Jeep Cherokee when it side swiped it down the drivers side. Luckily for him he remembered to shut the door on the Jeep as he was scrambling to get out of the way of his Ranger before it ran over him and took the door off.

True story.

I had another friend run over himself trying to start his Ford Ranger, but that is a story for another time... come to think of it... I don't think a Ranger is a very loyal vehicle.

my neighbors know me well enough by now. if they stick around and watch my debauchery, they are no longer innocent and will be considered accomplices.

HQ of DOom looks pretty sweet these days. How much heat do those monitors emit?

I should've bought an SS when they were on deep discount.
