here's a short list of differences, and i KNOW i'm not getting everything:

intake manifoldexhaust manifoldwiring harnessoil pan and pickup locationvarious sensors, connectors and plugsengine internals accessory brackets and pulliesmore?

so basically, what you are looking at as far as the EASIEST way to swap the engine in is re-using the intake and exhaust manifolds off of your truck so most/all of the truck harness/connectors can be re-used (maybe, these should at least bolt up the same - or maybe not), modifying the block's oil pan and pickup location to work with the truck, and using the truck's pullies and brackets (if they will bolt up correctly) to locate the accessories correctly...

and having to deal with the difference in the power band (?) from the different cams and compression ratio. im not sure of the exact differences, but im willing to bet the frontier KA makes more of its power lower in the rev range.

then you have to deal with the 97-98 240sx's were considerably fewer in number than earlier years and as such the engines you will find will be more expensive. maybe not more expensive than a 2000 frontier, but i'd think that since the KA was used in earlier model frontiers, too it would be easier/cheaper to go this route and you wouldnt have to work so hard to adapt everything.

i think.

depends, do you know the lift and duration of the frontier cams vs the s14 cams? more than likely it would just move your powerband more toward midrange. s13 cams would be a better upgrade.

Frontier cams would be better than the 240 s14 cams. The other problem you will have is the difference between single row timing chain and dual row timing chain. The dowel pin locations from single row and dual row are not the same for cam placement. This will lead to problems unless you make an adjustable timing gear. Or you modify to an entire dual row timing chain conversion which is a pain in the A$$. Or follow the Jim Wolfe technology addendum, whihc can throw the lift and duration off from the degrees it should really be at. Stick with the cams you have.

Work on breather mods such as ported, extruded manifold, and a high flow CAT.

good stuff, thanks for the info. The Frontier is actually my dads car, i just wanted to make it faster without adding an exhaust, he'll get mad lol
