I don't understand why are you NOT allowed to work on your own car? and why in the world would anybody complain about somebody working on their own vehicle.?

I'm still confused. Maye things are different in Florida, but I've yet to see a lease or condo agreement that says I can't work on my vehicle. Noise complaints if you're using air or power tools, maybe, but 99% of the time I'm using hand tools.

That said, I still think there's a market for rental garages. For people in apartments who don't have garages but park in an open lot. Rent a garage with the option to rent speciality tools as well. Work indoors in peace with a variety of tools at your disposal.

Of course, that could be a liability nightmare if anyone ever got hurt. But isn't that what waivers are for?

It really is ridiculous. :\

Sad thing is I'm the only one who gets in trouble for it. There's about 4 other people who live in here that work on their cars.

About these community rules....

A: Are they legally binding?

B: How are they enforced?

I would love to see someone stand up to these community associations and their stupid rules and test their legality in court.

A: Yes they are.

B: You'll get evicted depending on how many warnings you have. I got like...1...2...3 of them.....so yea.

i had a place at one time in a community with an HOA. couldn't even look under the hood without someone giving me issues. and this is the exact reason i bought my house in an area without a HOA. god i love the country. i live in a growing farming community of sorts and the neighbors really cant say anything. its my house and my property. 1.3 acres to be exact. i have more toys down by my shop that i can play with when the time comes.

hell when i lived in that community i would actually work at night so no one would complain. had the cops stop a couple times but i alwyas had my wallet on me and registrations for whatever cars i had at teh time.

Do you rent or own? If you own the place, then how can they evict you?

(Sorry to ask these stupid questions, but where I live, this sort of crap is unheard of.)

Own the house, rent the land. It's a prefab house.
