is it possible to save a hydrolocked engine? someone please help asap! im going to get a new engine saturday for 140 but someone has a hydrolocked engine that they are willing to give me for free would it be cheaper to buy the engine saturday with the full swap or just get the hydrolocked engine? (doing a swap from ka24e to a ka24de)

Hyrdolocking involves the cylinder filling with fluid so that the piston is physically stopped by the fluid. At that point something has to give, most likely the connecting rod, which means bent or broken pieces in the engine cylinder. Anything from scoring of the piston walls to a broken crank.It would probably need new connecting rods, and if the old rod contacted the cylinder wall it could need to be bored or even sleeved.

Basically: Its a KA, plenty of people trying to get rid of them so snatch up one that isn't going to need new internals.
