We have HD radio for these cars? I don't think it's possible (having all four).

With the PXAMG you can have 3 of the 4..there is no USB connector option...the HD radio connector is a seperate harness but it can be bought..

Same question as above, do you have the option for HD Radio? I know we can have satellite but not positive about HD radio

I was referring to the HD radio addon that PXAMG offers.

Then yes, the PXAMG allows for 3.5 mm, direct iPod connection, and HD radio

I knew that. I was hoping there was a kit that would allow for all 4. Actually I'd rather have a USB over the iPod. A lot easier to move songs around with USB than it is to use an iPod and iTunes.

No, you can only have 3. You can't have HD, 3.5 AUX, iPod, AND USB. If one of the companies made a device with such, that would work. But since they don't, you'll have to trade off and go with the one that works best for you.

So basically, you should be able to install the Grom or PXAMG.

Ahh ok. As Ilyakol stated, no one makes an interface allowing all 3. If you'd prefer the USB connection over the iPod, then you should get the GROM

I have a 07 M45 with satellite radio and no dvd player. The only thing this car doesn't have that I would like is a 3.5mm jack. I like listening to podcasts, slacker/pandora, and other stuff from my phone and it's nice to plug it in and play it over the car stereo while I'm on my long commute to/from work. I was aaaaaaalmost ready to order the grom or pxamg when I read the post that you can have either your satellite radio or one of these interfaces. I want to keep the factory xm.

Does anybody know if just a 3.5mm jack add-on is available for a 07 M45?

As far as I know, there isn't. Regardless, they were all probably interface in place of the XM as you can't get rid of AM/FM or CD.

I really wish manufacturers didn't make it impossible to change out the system. I wish Infiniti had a radio/screen all in one so I could yank it out and replace it with a Kenwood DNX.

I would love to have a 3.5mm jack instead of AM/FM and an iPad for a nav screen. Maybe somebody in Detroit will come up that one.

So I installed the Grom in my 07 m45 and it's not working. I switched the preset to B and hit the radio button on the dash until it went to XM, but then XM channel 1 plays and not my Aux. I used the same plug in the back of the radio as the OP picture shows and used the yellow wire for power. What gives?

It's playing your factory XM? I don't have factory XM, so maybe your install will be different than mine.

Yeah. I don't have service, but it will still play channel 1 which is their advertising station. Did you have something plugged in to that port on the back of the radio where you plugged in the cable from the GROM box or was it empty?

I believe mine was empty. That's where the harness plugged in (the one they sent me). You must still have your OEM XM device plugged in.

Great write up!!! I really appreciate the time you took to provide us the information! I'm really interested in getting one of the above units. I have an iPhone, do either of you know if Pandora Radio will work with any of these setups? Thanks again.

Yes, I run Pandora/XM on my HTC EVO and connect the phone via the 3.5/AUX input.

Hmm the instructions stated that if there was already a plug in the port to plug it into the female side of the harness. I guess I'll try to remove it and give it a shot.

Err maybe that's what I did. If I ever get some time, I'll check for you.

You could always send them a support ticket on their site.

Well that ended up being the problem. I removed the plug going in to the female port on the Grom harness and it started working. Kind of makes you wonder why even put it there in the first place... The audio in from the 3.5mm is kind of weak when played from my Droid. I'm going to try it out with an iPod tomorrow and hopefully a USB too. I ran all 3 cables to the center console. Except I cut a small channel just underneath the 12v port so if I decide to move them you wont see the hole as easily.

Yeah, it is weak. Full volume via Grom is like half volume via CD. It is what it is. I think you can make a configuration file and upload it via USB but I haven't really tried. Might do it later and see if I can edit the volume.

Hey guys,

I sent an email to the folks at GROM about the Volume level issues. Here's what they said:

"The issue has been fixed.
Besides, the product is supported with 30-day money back guarantee and one-year repair / replacement warranty.
So, if it does not work as you like, you'll be able to return it for refund (except shipping charges) within 30 days."

any thoughts on this?

Fixed with what? A firmware upgrade? I have their latest FW I believe and mine does it took.

I have a contact that I was working with through email for a while when I was testing this so I'll shoot him a message. See what he says.

Here is the config file thing I was talking about:

http://www.gromaudio.com/support/usb-config.html

----------------

Email I sent them:
To whom this may concern,

Myself and some members on the NICO forums (M-Series subforum) have been having issues with the quality of sound via your Grom Audio unit.

For example...50% volume via OEM CD player = ears hurt. 100% volume via Grom Audio connections = Where's the music?

Is there anyway to help this or improve this so it matches the OEM sound levels more accurately? Try switching from USB to CD at 100% volume.

1) It's bad for the system
2) It's bad for your ears because 100% is LOUD on the OEM components

-------------------------------------

Also, I have an issue on my own unit. A few weeks ago you guys sent me a new one (due to weird things happening when I was in AUX mode). Every now and then, I will get cracklings when listening via the Grom Audio (USB or AUX, I don't have an iPod) unit almost as if something is loose or the connection is poor. The music gets very staticky. And then it becomes okay. It's done this like 5 or so times and only lasts for a short while. I did notice that, like the first unit I got, the connections on the Grom Box are VERY weak and stuff is way to easy to move around (meaning, the plugs). Can't you guys do some more R&D to make it more sturdy? I really hate to go back inside the dashboard to check the connections, but I feel like that's the only thing I can do. This is the 3rd time I'm going back there. The sound quality has gotten to the point where I've gone back to burning CD's because they sound so much better than the Grom unit.

Please advise as to what I/the forum members (some who own your product and some who are seriously considering it) can do to help alleviate these "issues".

Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Ilya

Just noticed that there are updated software files. My Grom will not control the iPod. It will play the music, but not control it. Going to go update it now.

Well the USB light never stopped flashing. Removing all files from the USB drive so that the only file is the .hex file and try it again. You would think that this thing would come from Grom with the latest firmware.

Well I guess I got it working for the iPod. I kind of expected it to show the song name on the screen without having to go to "Audio Text" Kind of makes it hard to browse folders when don't know what folder you are in to begin with.

Yeah, it's not perfect. But it's all we got.

IMO, Infiniti done f'ed up on the system in this car. It's a 2006+ PREMIUM luxury car. It should come standard with at least USB/iPod/CompactFlash (which they added in 08). Either that or make it so the headunit can be swapped out for after market (I miss my Maximas Kenwood DNX8120 SO BAD).
