how low was your oil? and check compression.....sounds like a smoked motor....odds are your oil got low because you were burning it...and well nothing good happens when you dont keep oil in your car .....time to rebuild i would say.....

well.....disconnect fuel so it doesnt try starting and do a compression check.....if cylinders all have good compression run leak down tests then make sure your oil is at the full mark...if all those test out good then start it up and see if there is still the knocking noise.....if so then since the KA is such a no tolerance engine you probobly have timing off especially if it kills out after the knocking...that means your ****s slappin against eachother and you probobly broke alot of ****...and then you will need headwork and also a possible but almost demanded full rebuild.....nothing good comes from loud knocking.....and low oil man.....sorry to be the bearer of bad news....

i bet you spun your rod bearings personally. pull spark plugs wires out one at a time and see which cylinder stops making the sound, then you know which one you spun them on (unless u spun them on several)

if you keep driving it, you will have a hole in your block at some point..

cheers,Marko
