I am going to be hitting the track this weekend and the place I'm going to encourages having a tow hook for some obvious reasons and I purchased one.Now...how the heck do I go about installing it on the Versa? The stock tow hook loop is not like the ordinary orientation of up and down loops, but rather side to side. I can't get the towhook to correctly stay on.

Does it need to attach at the existing tow hook? How about drilling a coule holes on the rear subframe on the left side. This is how a trailer hitch is mounted. If you drill a 1" hole, you can reach in and get bolts and a wrench in there.

it came with the two bolts, nuts and a sort of support for tightening the tow hook.i sort of didnt want to drill it in because there isn't enough clearance for the hook due to the bumper.

I bought longer bolts so maybe that way i might be able to work something out.

too bad there isnt a way to bend the stock tow hook so that it is more straight than angled downward?

yea that tow hook you have fits vertical factory tow hitches. You either need to drill into the bumper and mount it flat (like cars do in the front) or you need to locate a tow hook that works with the horizontal hitch.

hmmm would the drill holes be okay if i dril straight up into the metal right by the towhook or do i have to drill into where the spare tire is?*sigh* the main thing is that i dont have a clue what brand would sell for horizontal hooks.

Well for the front hooks i know weve drilled straight into the bumper support (but my old cars have grills that allow us to do so), so im assuming you can do the same, you just need to see it that will clear the bumper or not.

Does it have to be a Rear towhook? Our cars come with a factory front towhook. Its in the spare tire bag, and screws into the small square piece in the front bumper.

i thought u cant tow the car from the back for obvious reasons lol such as ur transmission thats why they made a tow hook in the front.

Does the versa have a rear suspension like the sentra, with a rear torsion bar? Because it would be extremely easy to blot the tow piece to it, like adding a sway bar there...

Example: He is a pic from my old Sunfire, has nearly the same suspension set up as the SE-R, infact the old Addco bar in the pic does fit on the new Sentra's, the front bar however doesnt fit.\

I dont know if the Versa's are built like this, i know the Sentra's are. I havent seen the underside of a versa, however, if your car doesn have a rear torsion beam, aka, solid rear axle, then it should be really easy to install.
