It thinks something is wrong and there might be. 97 is OBDII so you can just take it to Auto Zone and get them to scan it AND delete code. That way you can know what code it was (write done the P0002 or what ever the P code was) and your SES light will be out.drizzlenoles wrote:How can I clear the "service engine soon" light on my 97 Infiniti J30??
It came on while I was driving and ran out of gas, there is nothing wrong with the car.
Thanks
How is it illegal?marlin29311 wrote:Unplug your battery for 30 min.
It's illegal for AutoZone to delete codes.
Don't take it somewhere and have to pay someone to tell you that there is nothing wrong with it. At least go to Auto Zone first and see what the codes are FOR FREE!!!marlin29311 wrote:If the light is still on, that might mean something is actually wrong with the car. I would take it in for service.
If you have an OBD II reader you can. Otherwise there is no way for you to "push a button" on your car to do it.drizzlenoles wrote:But is there anyway I can clear it myself????
Yes there is. GO TO AUTO ZONE!!!! FREE!!!!drizzlenoles wrote:But is there anyway I can clear it myself????
How many gallons is normally a full tank for you? Tank capacity is 19 gal, I believe.drizzlenoles wrote:Yes idle is normal, transmission shifts normally and I have not noticed any difference in gas mileage. I have been getting 265 miles for every full tank of gas, no highway driving.
Try again. You can go about 80 miles further than that. (It IS a 19 gallon tank.)drizzlenoles wrote:full tank takes 15 gallons
Not sure about the '97, but on a '93 you need to adust the TPS to set its' output voltage to between 0.40 and 0.45 VDC with the engine fully warmed up and idling in Drive with the brake applied.drizzlenoles wrote:So if the TPS needs to be replaced, is this something I can do myself? It looks like it just plugs right in, right?
How about at 70 MPH? I recall about 2800 RPM at that speed, when the engine is warm and throttle pressure is light.drizzlenoles wrote:Since having the TPS replaced I have noticed that when cruising on the highway at 80 MPH the RPMS are at exactly 3000. I cant remember if this was how the car previously drove or not.
Does this sound normal?
