How do you change the headlight bulb in a 2010 Rogue? I have an S, so just plain halogen bulbs. Thinking of switching to something like this:

http://www.putco.com/products.cfm?actio ... ce3c8e18ee

Anyone tried these?

Also, will a place like Autozone, O'Reilly, etc change the bulbs for me? I know they'll do some simple stuff for free, but not sure how simple it is to change bulb.

thanks!

For the passenger side, it is easy if you have a small hand and if you know what to do (finding the connector, know how to remove it, how to remove the bulb from the assembly).
For the driver side, it is easier to remove the air intake to get better access.

It is really not that complicated.

BTW, don't buy these bulb. The blue filter on them will reduce the quantity of light coming out of the headlight,... and you will get a ricey look too.
If you want bulbs with more light, choose something like the GE Nighthawks platinum.
As you can see, only the tip has a filter for some whiter result, but the bulb itself has no filter at all.

The Rogue Factory Service Manual (FSM) is available from this link, and will detail how to change the bulbs

Thanks for all the replies. The bulbs you suggested look good, but after reading reviews online, have decided maybe I should just get an HID kit instead. The bulbs, according to reviews, don't last very long and they're not that cheap. I can get an HID kit for about $140 or so.

Thanks again though! You guys really help with my decisions.

Without a retrofit, the HID kit will throw light all over the place. Be sure to read up on it to know what your getting yourself into. If you live in a state that does inspections, you may fail because of the HID kit.

I thought that if I am failed on inspection, I could just go home, swap out the hid bulbs for the original halogen bulbs, and go back and pass. Is this not the case? Either way, the inspection guys around here aren't really that strict. Would I be able to swap out the bulbs though if I did run into trouble?

Also, just checked out this place: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/shoppi ... hp?pID=176

Which kit would I need for the 10 Rogue S? Want a 6000k bulb btw....this site doesn't seem that much more expensive. Is it as easy to install as the cheaper kits at vled? Are they plug and play or is it much more complicated?

I would also need the OEM HID Housing correct? What is this technically called? Are these on Ebay? Should be able to get at a better price than dealership right? How much should the OEM HID housing or assembly or reflector cost? Not sure what I need or what it's called.

Thanks!!!

check the thread i asked this question a few months ago

you cannot used a cheap hid kit and the HID housing as the bulbs will not work

and look for used housings as the dealer will tear your butt apart when it comes to prices

The OEM HID housings (no ballasts or bulbs) are part # :

26075-JM20C (LH)
26025-JM20C (RH)

Cost is about $280 each side.

I would start looking for used parts. You can also buy aftermarket clone parts for cheaper, but I find the quality and fit are not as good. Try a google search using the above part no's.

Damn those prices are good. Not the complete product since you need ballast and bulb but damn that is cheap.

The bulbs and ballast can be bought at TRS (quality stuff) I got one hell of a price for my set up but this should be good for anyone trying to chenge their set up.

BTW: Ebay has 1 side for sale for about 130.00...no broken tabs and it does include ballast and bulb. One one issue that could be corrected easy.

The issue I have with aftermarket HID (besides the bad practice of putting HID bulbs in halogen reflectors) is the quality of components. I've heard far too many stories of failed ballasts & bulbs, and poor wiring.

If you are going to go through the trouble, don't cheap out. Buy OEM or high quality components. It will be far cheaper in the long run, not to mention safer. It would really suck to have your headlamps fail at the side of a road in the dead of night or something.

Yup , that's why I went full set up with HID housing. I am with you on the stupid low quality hid kits. Not only the glare issue but some of these bulbs can cause fires.

I really do not understand how people pay top dollars for other upgrades but cheap out on lights....

I drive a 2008 Nissan Rogue SL and the LEFT LOW BEAM BULB had blown. I did some research and discovered that I required an H-11 bulb, which I bought from a local auto parts store down the road. It was a reputable brand, but at half the price that the dealers were asking!. The tutorial I found at this site was very helpful:
http://www.paulstravelpictures.com/Niss ... index.html
There was one sticking point, however. To get to the back of the LEFT low-beam bulb housing, and to be able to replace the bulb - THE AIR DUCT HAS TO BE REMOVED. This was simple, though, since all it takes is popping off 3 plastic studs with a flat-head screw-driver.
The rest was pretty straightforward.
