and Im not fully sure what they are talking about, and I'm pretty sure that I do NOT have whatever it is... so I want to know how necessary it is.
It's a thin metal plate that goes between engine and transmission. It's about $40. s13 plate is out of production, but you can use s14 one. It keeps dust and water out of the clutch. I know someone who had to replace clutch because he didn't install this plate.

Try this thread. If you still don't know, post pictures of your fuse/relay box(black box). Someone might have touched the wiring and removed the females plugs from the side of the box.

I already replied to your email on this.

The speed sensor is not part of the inhibitor setup. It has its own seperate harness and plug next to the fuse box.

well this is strange, because it wires straight into the inhibitor switch...

here is the knock sensor to the sub harness:

then unpluged:

pulled the wires up by the inhibitor switch:

Here is the switch:

the switch unplugged:

The inside of the left side of the plug...if you look closely you can which socket doesn't have a wire:

The back of the same plug:

Here is the right side of the plug, they obviously don't match because this one has a missing wire on a different socket (bottom left):

back of the same plug:

Now here are the plugs that don't connect to anything:This one is below the inhibitor switch:This one, marked red, is behind the fuse box

so where is my speed sensor SUPPOSED to be going???

Is that harness you're dealing with from a manual? The auto harness should have the speed sensor going to a 4 pin plug, which should be the top plug on the long side of the fuse box.

I'll take some pics of my harness after work.

the subharness is from a manual, and the harness from the fuse box is automatic (obviously) I will look...

I would reuse the auto subharness just for simplicity sake. The auto chassis harness has the speed sensor running to the 4 pin plug on the long side of the box:

You can separate the engine lower harness from the auto harness as the speed sensor is actually ran through the engine lower harness

I don't have my auto subharness, I junked it all...

So I was thinking of just cutting the two speed sensor wires off of the inhibitor switch and running them to the switch you pointed out. My only question is if there are any other wires running to that plug? if I cut the two wires off of the back of the switch you pointed out, could I crimp it straight to the speed sensor wires? Or would I be missing something?

Are you talking about the wiring for the park/neutral safety switch? I added an old pic I had hosted and apparently forgot to add to the original post clarifying where that plug is. I added that on Friday.

Yea i am, i am having trouble starting it the car is wired from the started to the ignition and works fine but today it gave out, so i was seeking another way. I was told the orange and black wires on one of the plugs to be connected and everything should be fine. Is that true?

No they are not. The switches aren't that expensive, so just order them from Nissan.

Also, the manual harness is not plug and play compatible with an auto car (unless you swap out the entire front main harness on the chassis). You don't need the 5th gear, 1st gear, and neutral switches to run the car, just the reverse switch. The speed sensor is on a different subharness from the rest of the auto harness, so you can pull it out and run it fine.

ok, i'm new and not electrically inclined and i get confused easily. i have a M/T harness that has two plugs that i don't know what to do with. i understand the ones for the inhibitor switch and that side. mine are on the back side. i have an 8 pin plug that doesn't go anywhere and a two prong plug that does the same. my stock harness connects to the other two (there are four total, sorry). this is a pic of my harness. the bottom two are the ones that have mates and the two above them do not. i just can't figure this out. my fsm isn't any help. thanks

I have this sort of hesitation in first gear from like 1,000rpm - 1,500rpm where the car hesitates or jams of if very little throttle is given.

Someone told me to disconnect the TPS sensor and another friend said to get a manual ecu that same **** happen to him and he didnt pass his inspection because of an auto ecu, anyone have any other idea's?

About how much do all the parts needed to complete the 5 speed swap usually run (in terms of a ball-park type figure estimate of the whole cost)? I've always wished that my 240 convertible was manual. It would be so much more fun to drive. I never understood why they made this model an automatic. I looked into having it converted a few times and realized it is pricey to have it done at a shop. Thanks.

I am planning to do an engine and tranny swap my 1989 240 its an automatic and getting a sr20 s13 engine with a 5 speed tranny, its coming with a complete engine harness and ecu(Front Clip). will I have to cut and bypass wires? ????? The only thing i know is I will have to extend some wires so the SR ecu can stay on the passenger side instead of of the left side.

You don't read very well, do you?

I'm sorry if maybe my writing confuses you, but it's pretty clear that you have to cut and bypass things from the first post of this thread

Well i am kind of confused . I know i have to cut wires , but my question was, are you modifying the ka24 harness that came with an auto trans or do you still have to do same modifications on a sr20 harness that already comes with a manual trans.??????????? sorry .. i am not that good on reading

I will be doing auto to manual in my coupe soon. Has anyone done this by replacing the main harness with a 5speed harness? I have a donor car that im going to use the harness out of and just swap everything over.

I have one question. How do you know which wire to connect to what on the reverse switch in order to get the reverse lights to work? I pulled the sensor and both wires are black.
