i plan on buying an 89 coupe that has: a blown head gasket, faded red paint, minor damage to passenger side fr bumper, damaged passenger side shock tower, eibach in front, tokico in back, very clean interior (no tears, cracks). it's a california car, so i don't think rust is an issue. he wants 650 for it.

i was planning on getting this car, gutting the interior and putting the clean stuff in my 180. after recovering from the financial dent, i would do the sr swap/jdm front clip to fix the shock tower and turn it into an autoxer.

good deal? bad deal? ideas on price?

Hey, if everything else under the hood is in good condition besides the blown head gastket, I'd say go for it. I got my 240sx in worse condition than that, and I paid almost 3 times what the guys asking you for.

I disagree, for something without any major body damage and (I'm assuming) a clean title, clean interior, and some aftermarket suspension components, $650's really not so bad, I mean your buying a whole car. And since your taking all the clean stuff and putting it in your 180, and swapping the engine later, just think of it as paying for parts, and you get a car along with them.

wingzero: i find your points very useful, however you mentioned "assuming that it has a clean title". it has a salvage title from the front right passenger damage. how much would the salvage title bring the car down?

Yama is in Japan. A Clean title would make the car worth 500 sadly enough. If it's salvage it's worth nothing to anyone unless there is no frame damage, then it might be worth a little bit.
