How many times is the service engine light going to come on?

I've had my '09 coupe since May, and already I've had my service engine light come on three times. The first time it went away after a few days. I took it in recently to get serviced, and they said it was the emissions valve or whatever it is. Do Altimas really have that bad of a problem with that thing, or am I just missing something?

First off, have you done any mods? Such as an intake and/or exhaust to make your emissions a problem that your check engine light would go off?

Secondly, your check engine light coming on could be a million different things. It's important to take it to the dealership (since it's still under warranty) and have a mechanic hook up their computer to do a diagnostics check. That will tell you exactly what the problem is.

I know you said you took it there already, but if it keeps coming back on, then you need to take it back until the problem is fixed. I've been on these boards for awhile and never heard anyone else post this problem, so I don't think this is a common problem with A/Cs.

If they fixed it properly it should not come back on. Take it back and tell them to fix it...

Some codes can hide the real problem so at the most it should not take more than 2 trips. This is not an Altima-specific issue in regards to OBDII and engine management.

i had my 08 A/C for almost 2 years and i dont even know what that light looks like...

You have to know what it looks like... It comes on for lower windshield washer fluid, low gas, door open, car in ON mode not running, etc. It's the warning light... lol

Mine comes on every 50 miles or so. But i just clear it with the bd tuner. (header installed)

It never came on before that though. 16,000 miles/2 years 1 month

There's no mods on it...it's all stock, unfortunately -_- I'm going to the dealership when I get some free time..probably sunday.

I don't think Infiniti service centers are open on Sunday. You could go to the local AutoZone-style parts place and have them scan it and tell you the code.

thats not the check engine light thats the warning light that little triangle with the !.

The check engine light is 3 words vertically, service...engine...soon

Ive had the same problem its goes on more than 4 times, off and on and sometimes stayed on, originally stupid techs at nissan forgot to reset the codes after doing work lol duh . Since then its come on and off randomly

If they're not open tomorrow, I'll have to go Monday then...I really hate looking at that stupid light..it's quite irritating.
