do you mean converting a FWD block to a DET, or putting a DET in a fwd car?

need to change the pistons to either stock DET or aftermarket (stock DE pistons can't handle boost as someone proved once before, forget who now)

you won't have piston oil squirters

you will want a RWD crank pully, or just run w/o PS or AC (I forget which is the outsidemost)

you'll need RWD mounts, but the FWD block will mount RWD with RWD mounts unlike SR blocks

of course you'll need RWD transmission sorted out, and you'll want RWD head or to take EGR off FWD head and plug the EGR port, and RWD manifolds and accessories, and other outside bits

but in the block itself, you just need to change the pistons to handle the boost, you'll be without the oil squirters but thats it for differences internally.

And don't forget the crank girdle. The USDM FWD CA18DE didn't have a crank girdle.

haha, busy week but no I don't have a long or short block I'm trying to get rid of... I have a disassembled motor, but nothing complete (no rods or pistons), and nothing I want to sell.

then he would have high comp 9.5:1 pistons. I tried it, didn't work so well... most of you guys weren't around for that one, lol

I was around for it. It went something like this; "This is great! It spools much faster and it's got more torque. It kinda seems to miss out in the top end for some reason though. I'm not sure BOOOOMMMM!! AW SNAP! I cracked a piston." Hehehe. I can't talk too much crap though considering my engine setup...

haha I remember you saying it took off down the road like an angry cat or something to that effect, I remember the cat bit. then like a week or so later you were posting that it was dead

and thus I chickened out and when I had my pistons made stuck with 8.5:1 ... but my next block I build will be 9.5:1 w/ custom pistons again like float did, and if it blows up I'll keep my 8.5 block around as a spare

granted this won't happen this year.. too many other things to worry about (like AC! at this rate I'll have it fixed in time to defrost the windows in the winter!)
