Im planning to get a standalone unit as my next mod, to get my car running the best it should be. We have a tuner shop here who is specialize in Microtech and have dyno to tune with wideband. My cost including installation and two hours of dyno time would be US1800.

Personally I have experience with AEM EMS on my Honda Prelude, which is a plug and play unit and very user-friendly. Unfortunately they dont have an application for CA motor.

I thought about getting the Apexi Power FC unit, but nobody here is really familiarize with it.

Just wondering if anyone else here have experience with the Microtech? What is your impression and how much power were you able to extract with it? Thank you.

well you "could " get another AEM EMS for another car, say a nissan SR and just repin the SR plug with your ca harness..

BUT

the Microtech is a fantastic system from what i have read/seen, and i am sure the australians on the baod will chime in and have more hands on experience of it.. there are a few cars locally running them..

if you have a chance to get a shop to install and tune it on a dyno, i wouldnt pass that up for anything..

go form it.

microtech is very popular here with rotary enginesthere are several running them on turbo 4s

im not sure right now but previous version did have some limitations in the amount of fine adjustments that could be done compared to others 'like haltech, autronic and motec 'which are considered to be the best

Oh you're right! AEM does make one now for CA motor.

Tough decision here, my tuner is most capaple with Microtech. But I have experienced with AEM EMS on a NA car.

my engine builder just got the dealership for AEM, so i may be converting to the AEM EMS soon too, if i can get it at wholesale price and sell my haltech... it would work out perfect..

Does the AEM EMS eliminates the need of boost controller?

yea i dont know why we have so many manufacturers....?maybe coz there is more demand...

and our premiere motor racing cars all are fuel injectedhttp://www.v8supercars.com.au

and sometimes it works ou cheaper to inject than carbi...webers, holleys can be upwards to $1000 + here

but we could be cleverer

have had personal experience with microtechs and i can not fault them and i will be getting another when the times comes for my new car.

as mk1 said, the earlier versions had imited fine fuel adj points but they are now also laptop programmeable as well as handset and you cant go wrong.

i would be the most popoular computer available here in australia and there is good reason for it, not only price but performance as well.

There's a shop here who sells and tunes them with good results, but my personal experience with them was less than favorable to make it the standalone of my choice. If you plan on using the programmer, prepare for a headache because the screen is constantly changing which is very irritating in my opinion. I think it would be best to tune with the laptop option, though. If you are having someone tuning your car for you, it shouldn't be a problem for them.

Some good advice for you to pass on to your tuner, let he/she know that this engine doesn't care for too much timing and will detonate if that detail is not adhered to.

Hey Man, I just bought my 1st home and it wasn't cheap, so since the new area doesn't have DSL as of yet, I didn't have immediate access to the internet. I got desperate, broke out the old think pad, got with net zero high speed dial-up, and voila here I am. Car-wise, been having more engine problems. Had the bottom end professionally done with a remanufactured crank and focker spun the #3 bearing within 12 miles. And to make matters worse, the think had only 80psi per cylinder with the metal h/g and 60psi per cylinder with a stock head and stock headgasket. I blame a defective remanufactured crank. It sucks and it bores me as well, so now I'm going to start on installing my fully built CA18 in the other sentra I have and let the chips fall where they may with my g/f's sentra. Sorry for the slight thread jack.

Hey Sean, all my contacts are still the same with the exception of my home # and yes, the property I purchased is still in my Miami. Give me a call when you get a chance and we'll rap and that goes for you too Ryan! It's time for big boost and then I'll start selling some stuff as well to free up some $$$s. Also will give some of these lads to have some quality stuff for a fraction of the cost. Ryan, are you ready to tune your SDS or are you going to be poosy-footing around with light weight performance. Give me a call and I'll give you a program for 550cc injectors that should put you in a wicked ballpark by the time you go to the dyno. Dee

P.S. Thread jacking is a crime, so I guess we are all criminals, right . Who said that n00bs are the only ones who can thread jack .

Ouch, callin me straight out!!! Yea, I'll be ready this week. I just pulled the flyn dumpipe off tonight to get the bung for the wideband welded on. That SHOULD be done tomorrow. (the shop I go to is pretty quick with my little stuff)Then I've got to wire it up and start getting it tuned. I don't have all of my gauges yet, but they should be here later this week too. I'll email you so we can figure out when I can call you....
