dude his front wheels are poking like 8mm from the fenders

**** looks stupid cause its so high and mexi flush

Mats (mr240sx) has a set of 17x9.5+17 or 18 XD9s i sold him, said it has like 3mm of clearance on teh strut

i mean, if you dont run alot of negative camber, and slot your coilover top hole you might be able to get away with it

but your still gonna need like 30mm over fenders to be able to run a decent tire

then you get into tubbing, and having to hammer alot of **** if your super low

10js are no fun in the front

besides, front tires shoudl have very minimal stretch, its stupid handling and safety wise (yes i said it) to run that much of a stretch on the front. might as well put a 9j on there with the tire he has.

I love you.

BTW, this thread is now full of win.

On a side note, jspec, those wheels are great IMO... I like the era of wheel design to match the era of the car. New wheels on a new car, old school hotness on an old car. Grant's 180 is a perfect example... The wheel matches the car.

I was worried my Kranzes would look outta place when I got them... but the ridiculousness alone (flares, different finish, and stance) makes it somehow come together.

It's certainly not a style that can be pigeonholed, which I like.

^Thanks Greg. I'm definitely going to run a wheel that style or at least similar. And ya, your car is in a class of its own. Looks nasty, hopefully I'll see it in person if we make it to Nopi Nats this year.

Grant, what you say does make a ton of sense, 9j it is. I'll defiantly be in touch with you as soon as I'm ready to purchase them. BTW, those Eurolines you have for sale on Z are insane.

Ah I can picture it now...Cant wait!

You guys think 8j-1 and 9j+13 would be to weak for the look I'm trying to acheive?

Period correct wheels work with period correct aero though. With the Instant Gentleman aero, older styled wheels will not work as well. The styling of that aero is more modern and clean. I'm not saying other older wheel styles won't work..I'm just mentioning that there's no set ingredients, but there are guidelines. Using a more aggressive styled older wheel might look good, but won't look great, like a newer styled wheel would.

Even though this wheel style is older..it's still a style in current production with a few companies. It's a classic simple style that won't really go out of style.

Although it's not an S13..thsi S14 still shows that modern wheels look perfect with this style of aeroparts:

See, now on this demo car they went with old school period correct wheels, but the car looks like an abortion with that combination of aero:

Anyhow..I know different opinions will create different results..but I'm not telling you how I'd do it, I'm telling you what would flow well no matter who you are. Just my $.02

Agreed about the 3rd pic, looks horrible. Also agreed that certain styles look good/bad with certain aero. I think if something along these lines are cleaned up well, refinished (fully polished, polished lip silver/black center) will flow with the desired appearance.

Great point.

I prefer period-correct aero regardless... Maybe even a little older-school flavor.

I really LOL when I see a S14 on 14" meshies... It just don't "feel" right.

Bippu.... Heh heh... I say let them keep using it, it will seperate the true followers of the couture from the followers of trends.

But back to the question asked:

All of those pictures are of cars on air, just by slamming a IRS (independent rear suspension) car you will aquire some camber, if you want more for looks, or, need more for fitment you can put adjustable RUCAS (rear upper control arms) if you need more you can take out the threaded adjustable end, cut the arm down and re-thread the internal threads and install.

I've been contemplating coilovers, but now air may become a possibility. Which one would be best? I live in NJ/PA and I'm quite afraid of lowering my car, only to crack/scuff/FUBAR whatever aero that I get put on. How do you slammed guys navigate speedbumps and such?

Bags, bro. Bags. This way when you're out and about, you can be at normal driving height. When you park, it's dump city. You know what's up.

I dont have a preference when it comes to the manufacturer of air systems, they are all pretty equal these days, I have my Y33 dropped over 3 inches on cut S14 springs right now, rides like **** but due to the economy it will stay there until spring, as for speed bumps, hehe you go real slow at an angle (like 45 degrees or more) and try to have at least 1 wheel on it at all times, or do like me and learn to avoid them.

For my first car, I don't know if I want to go that extreme. I like to idea of air and the quickly adjustable ride heights.

That was sweet. Another issue I just thought is that where I live there's a lowering law. Your license plate has to be 12" off the ground.

Front plate or rear?

I know on the G50, the plate is kinda low already. Is it the same for the Cima?

Most states have laws regarding height (how high and how low) of Lincense plates, head lights, tail lights, and overall vehicle height

In Wa no part of the car can be lower then the bottom portion of the rim.

Reji, we only have rear plates here. Sorry for not clarifying that.

Lucky, you guys are lucky up there. I wish that was our law.

Oh, dont get me wrong we have all the other laws too(refering to heights), then one that will get you in trouble is the body height (unless your a ricer you are f@cked), we even have to have a front mounted lincense plate, Rollin an Infiniti the cops usually look the other way though, usually.
