The AFS motor in my left headlight is dead, and my headlights have never "danced" when powering on. I found the leveler near my back wheel thanks to another post and VStar pointing it out.

Can I just replace the AFS motor, or do I need to replace the entire assembly? If I have to get a new assembly, is my best option buying one from Xtune or Spyder for about 500 each?

What's the part number for the auto leveler? Can I replace this myself? Is there a fix I should try first? I have access to consult 3.

main reason why im trying to fix this is because 60% of my driving is done at 10pm to 4 am and its all highway driving and the dear are bad, ive had to swerve outta the way to avoid one already and had other close calls. the left headlight only projects out by about 30 feet then i cant see anything in the road or besides it unless i have my brights on.

I checked and My AFS q70 lights “dance” when I turn on the car and the headlights come on, but it’s only a quick side to side. If the leveller in the back isn’t stuck or broken, it should adjust up and down based on how much weight is in the back. If the motor is dead and stuck too low, that’s a bit surprising because why would it point down by default? If the motor isn’t dead and If your lights are pointed too low you can adjust that at the headlight. Check the FSM for the procedure. Not sure if the motor itself can be replaced.

For side to side, I don’t think you can manually adjust, so if the motor is dead I’d check the FSM to see if it says replace headlamp assembly or motor

This must be a feature in newer years but my 2011 AFS lights work fine (at slow speeds, etc.) but they have NEVER danced and I've owned the car since November 2014.

My 2011 has the following packages:

Tech
Premium
Deluxe Touring
