So getting some audio equipment. Just wanted some opinions. Tight budget so this is what I came up with. Total ran about 500.00

2x Alpine Type-R 10'' Dual 2 Ohmhttp://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/swr-1022d.aspx

With a JL Audio G1700 amphttp://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/g1700.aspx

You can easily put 500-700 watts to those type r's, i have the 2005 model 12's and i have 500 a piece to each. I would also look into rockford fosgate amps too. This is not a bad starter setup, figure though atlwast 50 for wires and 100 or so for a box if you buy one, prob another 50 or so if you build it and then terminal cups too.

Realisticly plan to spend more, and dont chintz, you will spend more money later with upgrades to the system. Just my .02.

Ricko, sorry I couldn't get back to you yesterday... anyway, you need about 1000 watts RMS going to these subs...

if you bought the dual 2 ohm subs, then you will most likely wire those down to a 2 ohm resistance load... in this case, you need an amp that can push ~ 1000 watts RMS at 2 ohms...

here are some good amps...

JL audio 1000/1... 1000 watts RMS @ 2 ohms

Rockford Fosgate T1500-1bd ... ~ 1100 watts RMS @ 2 ohms

Rockford Fosgate T10001-bd.. ~ 1100 watts RMS @ 2 ohms (this is the 2007 model, but just as good as the current model, its larger, but has built in fans for more efficient cooling)

sundown audio SAZ-1500D.. ~ 800watts RMS @ 2 ohms

these amps will run you between $370 and $600 dollars... sorry, but real power aint cheap!

You definitely want to get ahold of Doc. I don't know that he can help swing any deals (his sponsors wont just give crap away to him to give to others), but he can certainly help walk you through car audio and get you on the right track. He also probably knows of good dealers in that area to work with.

Edit: That's what I get for leaving the window open while I go to lunch. Doc jumped in well before I posted. My bad!
