horrible transmission whine

i was goin around 300 kmph and when i slowed down my trany started to whine allot, it whines in neut and in gear, but when i pres in the clutch it doesnt sound what can it be, ive heard input shaft bearings and pilot bearings plz help

If its a 5 speed manual trans then usually 4th gear is the 1to1 strait through gear. If the whine goes away in 4th and comes back in 5th then I'd say main bearings. Either way it's probly time for a rebuild. Or is the exhaust too loud to hear the whine in the higher gears when it's less pronounced.
