Yesterday I washed my Rogue for the first time. We have about 190 miles on the car (it came with 70 miles from another dealer). When we test drove the car it had that white plastic coating on the hood. When we picked up the car it was dark, we did try to check it out the best we could. Yesterday I took the Rogue to the car wash and noticed a small crease in the hood. It almost looks like a palm mark from someone pushing down too hard closing the hood. I know it wasn't me because I have haven't opened the hood yet. I wrote an email to my salesmen asking him when I could bring the Rogue in. Anyone else experience this or notice that the hood is made with thin metal?

The proper way to close the hood on a Rogue is to NEVER push down to latch it. You MUST drop it from about 6 inches to latch it.

The dealer explained this to me when I picked up my Rogue, and explained that the hood is made to "crumple" for impact absorbtion on a crash. The manual also states this (same thing on the Versa as well).

It is IMPERATIVE that all Rogue owners know this and make sure that some mechanic, tow truck operator, or "looky-lew" bends the hood by pushing down on it to latch it.

I fell bad that I did not post something about this earlier.

According to the owners manual page 3-19 it says lower the hood to the latch and then push the hood down.

By the way, I went to the dealer today and they are going to replace the hood.
