:help wondering if anyone has done a short ram, cold air intake. I've had a theroy. (I actually don't have any cash so my theroy is all I got for now) If you re-locate you battery out back, as I have already done, and extend your MAS sensor wires and your air temp wires, if you could cut a hole and do a short tube down into your wheel well where your battery was (with appropriate vaccume lines attached) would this work??? or am I just riding on hopes and dream.

tell me what you think??

When u make this shorty Ram intake system, what did u use or how did u keep all the vaccum lines connected to the exaust becuz i was thinking about making a custon intake simmilar to this and was curious as to what i was going to do for the vaccum hoses. Thanks

go to a local muffler shop and have them fab a pipe that replaces that cheap plastic one and use assorted piping pieces to make it go down into the wheel well. Get them to weld on a few flanges for the vaccum lines. should cost between 50-100 bucks for the whole thing...not counting the filter.

OH! I see what your saying, I was assuming the piping would go the stock direction. Thats not a bad idea...

Aight well your idea doesnt seem bad at all, But being lower than a short ram system would i have problems with water when driving in the rain? Would i need a bypass valve as the cold air intakes have? Also since the intake is being mounted the non-stock direction do u think the vacume hoses and flanges pose a problem and would a muffler shop carry falges for the extension to the other side of the hood bay?

You could get a bypass valve like the one AEM makes, but its expensive at 50 bucks. I dont need to worry much about water getting in because I live in San Diego, not much rain...I'm sure a muffler shop would have all the parts needed.

The only time when you run the risk of getting water in your engine is when the air filter is complete submerged otherwise (even if there is water in on the filter) the engine is just going to suck air.

i've had most of my filter covered in snow before, and it was fine. of corse i got the snow off pretty soon, but i didn't have any problem. why is this question being asked in the turbo section of the forums anyway? u might get more responce from the general 240sx chat. i know there are people that have done this.

Well my friend and i did about the same thing on his mustang. the only problem is he is impacint, and half assed it. but anyway, what you do is go to a local hardware store. go to the plumbing department, look for the black 3" PCV vent piping. they should have seval difrent bends:45º and 90º. also there should be some ruber ones that are about the same. just peace out what you need. when i get my engine back in my car, i am going to make me one.
