I have stock engine except for filter, megan racing 3" outlet, 3" downpipe, and then I had stock cat and catback. Today my 3" stainless uras RS catback came and I installed it along with a project silvia 3" race pipe. My exhaust manifold gasket is leaking and I'm waiting on some parts to come in to fix it, and as a result my car has been making 3-5 psi. I took the car for a spin with the new exhaust on, and it make 8. before when I should shift into 2nd you would really have to hammer it to get it to catch. I short shifted tonight and hit 2nd around 2500 rpm and it broke the rear tires lose- with a vlsd and falken azenis. Its crazy, I never would have though upgrading the catback would have made such a difference...

Turbo's love big exhaust. I have a hard time getting the old school NA guys to believe me when I tell them that I get the best power running a 3" exhaust. They just shake their heads and tell me that it's too big for a 1.8L. Close minded bastards....

See, I never got to see the benefit of my $1000+ investment....I ran open downpipe from the start, so I actually lost a bit of top end putting on my exhaust

But yes, it does make a big difference!!

lol you screwed yourself! Now everytime I mash the gas I get an eat **** grin on my face... **** I'm smiling now just thinking about it. It made the same kind of difference to my car that TURBOCHARGING a regular car does... the big thing is that it feels like I have some much more torque

I'm running the old, single peice, Apex N1 single. I picked it up off of eBay from a guy that, luckily, only lived about 45min from me. I've got a Jeep Cherokee Larado, and with the seats folded down I still had to have it running in between the 2 front seats and up near the dash. The tip is crazy bit too. I can stick my foot in it. Looneybomber still gets a kick out of that....

My friend got this blitz nurspec LM edition, its like 90mm piping, its gigantic... I'm really happy with the Uras RS, its very deep, really not THAT loud for having no resonator (I do use the resonated test pipe though), and I was very surprised when I took it out of the box as it is amazingly lightweight. The hangers are all hollow. The biggest thing I noticed was that every hanger, bolt, pipe, etc was exactly in the right position and it bolted right up with no trouble at all. Ground clearance sucks, but... what u gonna do?

I've a mere 60mm IIRC HKS Sport catback, but it does the job. beats the crush bent "import world" POS someone had on there before!

I've a random tech highflow in front of the HKS (alltho I'm tempted to get a testpipe after I pass emissions, so I can shoot fireballs instead of clouds of smoke on the 1-2 2-3 and 3-4 shifts at 6k+ RPM - and this is w/ recirc BOV) and I've a HT 3" DP I believe it was someone on here had already modified to fit the CA and a stock CA elbow on the wee little CA T25.

I'm contemplating ditching the N1 single and going for something that is a little less consipicuous. I haven't found anything that will flow like I want it to and not be loud. Damn the comprimises....

Hey, I got a ca18det, And i have 2 1/4 from manifold to cat and 2 1/2 from cat bac. I was thinken about getting a boost controler and a intercooler but i already have alot of back pressure already do you think i should get the exhaust before i bring my boost up anymore?

I do, cause I'm runnning stock 7 psi wastegate still and my catback was a HUGE difference... the more boost you dial up with the back pressure you have, the more pressure you are going to need inside the manifold.. you could end up blowing out a gasket.

yes, free up the exhaust before raising the boost too much over stock... that's a pretty big load on the engine to cram all that exhaust through a small opening. But make sure you upgrade the downpipe and exhaust together, or it won't make such a difference.

Thanx man, I think i wanna upgrade to 3" stainless. What are some good brands of exhaust. And is there a big difference from one to the other?

on thing i have to say is apexi n1/dual n1 dont like inclement weather cuz they are not full stainless...so if it snows(salt it the winter) in yer area or rains alot id say dont get one of these because they have a tendancy to rot/rust so id recommend gettin sumthing full stainless...that being said...i still love my dual n1's lol..i got em used and they had already been reparied from rusting thru tho:(... good for me cuz i got it cheap lol

If you wanna spend less money SSA has a full stainless knockoff of the N1 Dual now.

when i bought my car the guy attached an aftermarket exhaust... actually i just think it was the muffler.. because its sounds deep and very very freaking loud. But i am not sure.. how can i check? when i looked under the car it looked like the only new part on their was the muffler. How much is it to get these 3" exhaust systems?

most turbo cars don't lose much low end power with a larger exhaust if any, because generally the largest exhaust restriction is the turbo. so in the case of the stock t25, that's a huge restriction.

(this is my first post on this site BTW)on turbo cars, the best exhaust, is no exhaust.

I think no exhaust sounds like poop though. And it gets the underside of your car all hot, and it rusts, and when you drive with your windows down you get soot on your face.
