I'm going to run it open headers probably for a bit until I have time to make the 3"> 4" y pipe, should sound okay lol. I'm hoping the right side is less time consuming to fabricate.

I copied and pasted it for you hope you don't mind but atleast everyone can view it.

But yeah I know what you mean it looks like sh-t but one good thing about flux is how hot it gets, I love it because I can weld almost anything.
I'll take some pictures of them when they're are cleaned up and it will look less shi-ty.

Did a quick little scrubbing with the good old wire brush after I finished welding them to the flanges, just the collector left and a few little things.

oh.. haha.. cool.

but seriously! these things have such a badass shape!! i'm nearly making child-like rumbly motor sounds with my mouth as i look at them... omg. Bet you got savvy making those numerous pie cuts lol.

Flux core will definitely get the job done, i just crave that clean finish, and hate stopping to clean out/off slag. But it's better than no welder!

Does that snarl actually clear all the steering components enough to install with everything in place?

Yeah it clears! Lol kind of tight but it clears, had to make sure to leave enough room for the engine movement. The headers aren't perfect though, I was hoping to keep them equal lengths but there's just not enough room. So I got them 34"-30.5" I could have made them exact but the bends would be so sharp it would kill hp instead of make it unfortunately.

I like the flux, sometimes you can get a nice clean weld but not when it's mixed with aluminized tubing unfortunately, you can probably tell how it has taken me so long, between work and all the pie shape cuts + having to install it, test fit, change this/that about 60 times

Just have to finish coating them, heat wrap and a a tiny bit of port matching and the left bank is done. Now onto the right bank... when done they should be more than capable of 600hp cfm flow.

Sweet...

You don't expect any limitation with some of the sharp bends?

How big is the collector they flow into?

3" collector like I said at the start. And no I don't expect any real hp losses from the bends they are not that sharp. They might look like it in the pictures but they're pretty gradual. Now if I wanted to keep them 100% equal lengths I'd expect the hp to drop because of how tight the bends would have to be.

Cool... so with the hours involved are you still considering making a few extra sets for sale?

I can't wait for the next 1/4 run or a before and after dyno.

Yeah I still will if people want them. Now that I know what to do it shouldn't be to bad and only take about half the time. I'm hoping to get started on the right bank side tomorrow.
There's drags coming up in a week so I'm hoping to get into the 13s even with my off the line lean problem. The car is making some serious topend right now. If the car had bigger injectors I could see it running a 13.5 quite easily if It could keep traction. I'm really hoping to be running into the 12s with them. But even if I get them done and on the car I still have to wait for my rear bushings that have taken over a month. . And I'm going to need bigger tires.. again. . I had the back end break loose on me at 80kph the other day easier then I want it to lol so if I am having traction problems now with 275 DRs I don't want to see how bad it is after the headers. I've already had to pull lowend power and put it up top just to get some traction on launch. I can honestly say I'm very impressed with the stock headers, just had to add a helper (y-pipe) and the power I have from them is pretty damn good. This car has been the easiest car to tune I have ever worked with. Very little changes seem to make a huge difference. When I got the car it wouldn't even chirp the stock tires, now it can't hold huge DRs, so a big change like the headers :rotfl :rotfl :rotfl

If the power antenna actually went all the way down you would decrease drag which would equal a faster car. Whats up with the ricer muffler? Why low profile tires in the front?

Lol the radio was on in the pic.
The muffler I had from my 240sx it's not a "ricer muffler" it's a 3" ID staright though design for a truck. I have it so I can take it off/on in a minute max, it's just to keep it a bit quieter in the city. If someone thinks it makes the car look ricer then it's even more funny when they get dusted.

The front tires I am just testing they're 185/55r15s getting the proper size ones when they wear out, probably will just get dot front drag tires. It's all about less resistance .

Hey man I know you had some trouble looking for flanges earlier, well VH Performance LLC just released stainless steel header/manifold flanges 3/8" thick. Priced at $125.00 with free domestic shipping.

Okay thanks for the post, appreciate it.
I've found a local place with a water jet that can do them for me though, for less money as well.

And I was wondering if someone knows something I don't about the stainless zip ties? You can't get them tight as they need to be moved back to lock..

Lap bands. Butt both 3"pipes to each other. I find they work very well and I need all the ground clearance I can get.

These headers are really designed for higher rpm. The peak torque for them should be about 7k, I'm thinking of making some smaller diameter ones after just to test and tune what the car likes best.

If they are good for high rpms, I would think they'd flow well for a rear mount turbo app too? mmmm :yesnod

Well the torque peak should be around 7000-7500rpm. They should flow with a turbo well into 1000+hp. I really designed these for when I increase the rev limit and build the engine. I'm probably going to build some 1"3/4 headers with a torque peak around 6000rpm, I would think they would be best for a turbo staying in the stock rev range. But ya a rmt would see huge gains as well I'd suspect.

I was actually thinking once I get to the max N/A I'm probably just going to turbo into the 1000s and try to keep the car looking stock. Should be pretty funny.

Yeah eventually, just have to get rid of my girl because she can't drive stick. I'll probably do the 5speed swap when the auto dies.
