I recently changed spark plugs on my 02 I35 using the following DIY.

http://www.greghome.com/Greg%2...t.htm

Everything went smooth, I had to clean the throttle body and UIM with throttle body cleaner as it was filthy as hell. After the install the car has a slightly higher idle, rather than being around 700 it’s at around 900~1000. Any ideas as to what is causing this? The SES light also came on but that could be due to a faulty gas cap as my filler pipe top is corroded a bit and it has thrown of the SES light in the past.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Edit: Rather than using OEM NGKs I used Denso Iridium plugs.

Thanks bud, so my understanding is to do the following.

-- Start the car-- Unplug the throttle sensor plug (still not sure which plug that is though)-- Depress the gas paddle a few times. -- Plug the Throttle position sensor back in?

and is this the throttle position sensor plug? I thought it was plug for the actual throttle actuator.

You might check the floor shop manual to find the TPS for your car. It worked on my maxima

Thanks for your help. I was able to perform the throttle body idle sensor procedure, the SES light did go away but came back soon after. Here are the codes, almost all of them have to do with the TPS. RPM are suppose to be around 650 but are still around 900 mark when idle .

I would also like to mention that when the intake body was off I cleaned the throttle body etc as there was a lot of gunk inside the throttle body and the intake. Any suggestions before I waltz into the stealership with all these codes?

You might try cleaning carbon from your idle air control valve too

Sort of late now as I have stumbled across the following thread, a tad too late though.

Car is at the dealer, lets see what they throw my way.

The new generation of drive-by-wire Throttle Valves are very sensitive and can get damaged easily - expensive to repair. Infiniti/Nissan does not recommend cleaning of throttle valve since newer ones have anti-gunk coating. Even Haynes car manual has a warning about it.

I still clean the TV in my I30s and older Q but not on the newer Q45 and M35. If you ever have to clean the TV, never spray the cleaner directly into the assembly as it could seep into the actuator/position sensor and damage them. Spray only into the rag used for cleaning. Be very gentle with the throttle plate movement duriing cleaning.
