Interesting. So you would put '00-01 lights on a '02-03 Maxima which comes with actual HIDs (assuming those were the middle ones you were talking about)? The problem with using '00-01 lights and installing HID bulbs is that the reflectors were not designed for them. I would be interested in doing a comparisson at some point to see what the differences are in light output and direction.jltibbs wrote:personally, if i had a 00-03 maxima,
What about the reflectors on the A33 I30? Since that model comes with either halogens or HIDs would the reflector likely be the same for both? I've looked at my I30 side by side with an I35 and I can't see any difference in the reflector...audtatious wrote:

From a projector perspective, just because you can buy aftermarket lights setup for projectors does not mean they function like true factory projectors. Retrofits usually do not have the R&D to ensure appropriate lighting.
Is there any way to determine whether or not they are the same? Ideally I'd like to just get a pair of I35 headlights to swap in, but they are probably going to be very expensive. So if I can just install a D2R kit in place of my low beams it would be a lot cheaper.audtatious wrote:I dunno. The "general" concesus I have seen is that HID bulbs do not necessarily work the same in a non-HID designed headlight vs one that came with them "from the factory". It is possible (and probable in the case of the I30/35 if you compared) that some headlight designs simply don't matter.
