Hi, ive been browsing around alot and ive been doing alot of reserach on my own. I decided to go with the CA awhile ago but after the last month of just researching and reading its confirmed that i want the CA.

I actually wanted to attempt to do the swap myself with a couple of friends who have done SR swaps before. I was just wondering if there were any things i should know of before i go about doing it. I was also wondering if theres anyone willing to either write one or link me to a site with instructions on the swap, like step by step. The only swaps ive done are the AE86 20v 4AGE blacktop and a honda swap (b18cR). Im sorry if these have been posted before but i just couldnt find them ><.

THanks again!

http://www.srswap.com Go to the FAQ section. Everything is the same as the SR including the wiring. Welcome.

you can use most intercoolers, SR or CA sidemounts are easier as the hotpipe and cold pipe are nearly identical.

if i use the side mounted one, how much power can i push before i have to upgrade to a front mounted one? I was planning to eventually do some internal work and upgrade teh turbo as well. Eventually this will be my DD once its done. Its sure to get better gas then my current car.

make sure to get CA mounts either with the motor or get some nismo from someplace like courtesy, part #'s 11210-RS520 and 11220-RS520 .. KA/SR mounts **** up the mounting and make life hell. search on my name for posts and find my recent thread about it

also when searching if you're not finding much, try selecting to search the archives if you haven't tried that already. it's stupid, but you have to choose either current or archive stuff :P

Don't bet on good gas mileage. I get like 15 miles to the gallon city BUT I do love to giver her hell. Plus, HAVING to run premium means my last to fill ups from empty have been over $35.

As for an intercooler, I ran the stock one with a water sprayer for a summer and it worked fine at 8psi with a SR20 T25G turbo. I don't reccomend running the stock IC past 10psi on a T2x turbo. You can either run a S14 SR20 front mount, modify the coldpipe of a S13 SR20 front mount kit, or go sidemount upgrade (I run an ARC Super Sidemount with custom aluminum piping myself). Welcome to NICO. We pwn.

thanks for the help, expect me to keep asking stuff. This is the only forum ive found thats CA friendly enough for me to want to post on.

Yeah... my other car is costing me 70 bucks to fill up every time, 100 octane on the impreza 4.50 a gallon 16 gallons...yeah

i originally wanted to have a 240 a long time ago and just recently came across one for 700 dollars. Body in good condition with a KA that starts up but doesnt quite run right. I figured i can run it till it dies and instead of a rebuild, put in the CA that i've looked up to for so long.

Im just rambling now but hopefully i'll contact someone about helping me find a CA soon. I found a few places in canada but the prices are lil iffy for me.

1st of all, WELCOME!!!!

2nd stock SMIC sucks. People say that you can run it up to 10psi safely. I would NOT put it one pound past that. I had a friend with an SR that was 12psi through his and spun a bearing, popped the headgasket, and fried the rings.

As for gas mileage, my CA did alright. I got low 20's. And that was with me getting on it all the time.

Anyway, glad to see you and I hope to see more!

if it makes you feel better, ive seen 450-500 miles on a tank quite often. its not quite that good now since ive turned up the boost, but i still manage about 25 around town. this is 10psi on a gt28 with my foot in it everywhere i go and its running rich as crap.

i would love anything past 300 a tank. Right now im getting 16mpg on the subaru, anything past 20 would be just lovely.

On to other matters, should i go for an aftermarket smic or just try to do a fmic? i wouldnt mind a tmic either but wouldnt that mean a new hood? i know if i did a fmic i would have to relocate the battery.

If i go with a smic should i put it on before the engine goes in? i figured it would be easier.

after market smic is more a conveniance thing in my opinion...u can keep all stock pipng yet the cooling/effieciency of it is MUCH better....

tmic/vmount fmic would require either a new hood or choppin up yer stock one (ive seen a few people who had sum fab skill make there own vented hoods...

imo fmic is just fine...tha lag is no existant to me so that another option tho i know thats not what u asked for

as far as installin the smic i cant help w/ that one my car went str8 to fmic....but since its in the fender well i dont think it will have anything to do w/ the engine being installed or not

welcome to the community...these guys are great...dontknow what i would have did w/out this forum..ive learned alot from it and im sure u'll do the same

OFF TOPIC...pics of the boxer or BAN

Considering just piston speeds:

A Stock early S2000 has a stroke of 84mm and a redline of 9000. That makes for a 4960 fpm piston speed.

A CA18 has a stroke of 86mm, so to get that 4960 fpm, you'd be at about 8800RPM. Thats about the limit for OEM components.

With some nice internals built for high speeds, 6000 fpm can be safe. For a CA, that comes at about 10,625 RPMs.

Doesn't take into effect Rod ratio, and valve train.

11K is pushing it, even with upgraded parts. I'd really start worring about the main and bearing caps holding up at that point. You'd have to have some hellatious cams and stupidly large turbo to even make it worth running it up that high. It wouldn't even be close to streetable....

Is there something wrong with me when the thing in theose pics that catches my eye the most is the FB3S in the background? Sorry...I just prefer old Japanese cars to old ones

I have revved mine to 9k RPM several times (verified by ECU via HKS E-01 TT) and not had any problems. I have seen just shy of 10k when I have missed shifts before (I want a non-Nissan transmission/shifter)

Its either a SA22 or FB33. My 84 was a FB332 infact The FC's were the first to use the '3S'

And you probally prefer the old cars to the new ones :P
