Insurance companies will usually let you buy a totaled car back from them, but then it gets a salvage title. Did you ask them if you could buy it back and how much they wanted for it?

The car looks very FIXABLE.

new bumper cover assembly, new radiator+condensor, new hood, new fenders, new lights (can be used ones) and paint job. You just need a bodyshop to pull all deformed hinges/bumper-holder to specs. I will give it about 1500 for parts, 500~1000 for pain jobs and 200 ~ 500 for body shop related work.

The only thing I am not sure of is the suspension sub-frame. If it is deformed, then I guess there the car is pretty much totaled.

You know what, you are one brave young man. Most people do not admit the stupid things they have done but you decide to share your bad experience with us. Man, don't be so sad, it is just part of life. It is worth it if you can learn something from the incident.

Peace!

$2700 to buy it back seems way too much. When some kid drifting totaled my Infiniti G20 that was parked in a school parking lot the insurance company said I could buy it back for I think it was $400, and the damage was less than your car. Just the passenger side front fender and the passenger side front door which was still O.K. but wouldn't close properly. However I didn't buy it back because I wanted to put the $400 into a better car which was the 94 J30T I now drive. Also I was worried the transaxle might have been damaged as the front wheel was hit, but the car still drove under its own power.

my car was in worse shape than that, when i hit a deer in ga. from the radiator backward seems to be okay, i would fix that in about a week or two used hoodfenders bumpergrill head lights would cost the most or maybe second to lettinga collision repair shop unbending my brackets for the bumper if necessary

KEEP IT!
