So i just bought an 1998 i-30 3.0l from my friend for $400. Cheap yes thought i could fix it yes. This is my problem, this guy cut a couple of the wires under the hood. and did who knows what else to it. befoer i go on i throughly inspected it and did not see anything out of the ordinary. before i fixed the wires, when you turned the car on it would just rev up the rpms. I put the wires back together and turned her over, it would jump up to 2000 rmps for 3 to 4 seconds then start to rev up uncontrollably. I disconnected the battery to reset the computer same thing happens. i didn't seeing any other wires cut or disconnected, also i didn't see any fusses gone or tampered with.tomorrow i'm going to crank it up and see if the throttle has any response before the rpms jump up. any suggestions what so ever plzzzzz help. :wtf2:

That should help you figure out how what wires have been cut and what they do...

I would certainly take a close look in the areas of body damage you mentioned in your other post... it's very possible that some wires have been damaged that run between the fender and fender apron.

before he cut the wires and the body was messed up the car still ran fine. i dont think that effected it at all. There is a wire that comes off the main harness in front of the intake manifold that loops around and goes back into the harness. It has a black cover and is a white wire. I can't figure out what it goes to or controls, i could not find it in the diagrams. If anyone knows what this mystery goes to would be a great help.

ok so i connected a dianostic tool to it and no error codes came up. i was looking at the throttle body and on the under side there's a sylonoid (totally butchered that word) and the piston is pushed all the way to a stopper screw could this have anything to do with it?
