Last night someone center punched my neighbors truck with what i think was a Nissan 350z. they rapidly absconded from the scene leaving a totaled truck in their wake. My neighbor helps me out a lot and im hoping to return the favor by supply him with good information.

I was hoping you guys could confirm that the vehicle was indeed a 350z by identifying a complete body part for me..(yeah! you guys get to play coroners office)

Thanks for your help

Front chin spoiler.

The color is Silverstone (Diamond Graphite is thge same color but sold under the Infiniti name) and the car should be the same color.

It's from a 2003-2009. Unfortunately, since it's a chin spoiler, it's a universal part.

Start calling local body shops.

He filed a police report, correct?

best thing to do would be bring it to the dealer and ask them. they might not be able to reference the color from a part number usually need a vin number for a color code.

yes a police report was filed

I saw the colors listed the silverstone looks just like it.

Okay so i can say for sure that its a Nissan 350Z and the color is silverstone and the year is between 03-09?

The part is bumper fascia / chin spoiler

can someone circle this part on a picture of the car for me?

Thanks so much

One thing that I noticed while looking for a picture for you. It could also be a Nismo 350z. A little rarer of a car, and the red Nismo 350z also has a silverstone chin spoiler.

If it's not a Nismo, and the chin is factory, it'll be the same color as the car.

If it's a Nismo 350, the red ones ghave a silverstone chin.

If it's a white Nismo 350, I don't know what color the chin would be.

If it's an added on factory part (after original purchace), who knows what color he had it painted.

I see the outline you have drawn on the picture...

This part is only about 1ft long and 3 inches wide. both ends look clean and factory (not snapped off). Its in no way large enough to be a complete front spoiler.

Does that part secure the front spoiler to the car?

Thanks

You are the MAN!!!

All I got when I did a part number search was bumper fascia, or chin spoiler. That is awesome that you found this out.

I thought it was a broken off piece of the chin. Shows what I know.

With that bit of new evidence, I would say that the car is the same color.

Okay thanks guys.

I should have given part dimensions.

Ill give him this info and hopefully it helps him out a bit.

Now the last question is...I assume almost everyone with a Z loves their car. assuming that....where would you take it after damaging the front end?? Is this a trip to macco or what????

I was thinking it was the front tow hook but on the 03-05 style bumper its way smaller. I guess on the new style the tow hook cover is a bit longer

I would check with some of the better body shops. Only a fool would trust Maaco.

You might also check with the local Nissan Dealerships. Be friendly with their parts guys. That piece is a factory only part, and will have to be ordered through Nissan. Maybe tip them a $20 and ask them to call you if they order/ship one out.

+1 on macco but then again only a fool would forget to continue the turn right (ah half way around is close enough) and full throttle into a parked car

Im am now almost certain 99.9% that the car is a bight silver. We found a large section of paint that had been rubbed off the Nissan and stuck to the truck not unlike a big scab. upon removing it and looking at the paint side it was a bright silver just like I though I saw. It is much brighter then the piece I found which is a nice dark gray.

Ill have him take it to the dealer today but do you think it only fits 05-09 years?

thanks

geesh! I miss a couple of days and I miss the party! (sorry I'm late)

The part you have is the tow hook insert. The problem is, I believe all 350Zs 06 and up have thesame insert. That means even if it was red, black or silver, that part you have there will always be that graphite color.

I hope you and your friend find the culprit.

Thank you all so much for the help

I have as much info as I could possible hope to get from the 2 scraps of evidence (that part and the paint chip)

this isnt a really big neighborhood. Someone knows someone and there is a good chance that all this will result in a positive id (Now that i have very reliable proof to back what would be a not so reliable 2 second moving shot of some car at 2:40am from 100 yds away.) Looks like I still got game tho.

keep an eye out for me online...you never know where something might turn up. Im in Fresno/Clovis Ca and so are they.

thanks again
