I took my pioneer avic u310bt from my 99 qx4 to my dads 06 frontier. His stock radio is freezing up. The harness is the same as my infiniti but when i powered up the unit it turned on for half a second then never again. Should i connect the ground wire to the chassis of the head unit or does the harness wire do that already? Any differences between new nissans and old? (99 vs 06) also has anyone else had issues with the stock head unit?

If the device worked for a while (one second and up) and later went Off, first check the fuse, later the device itself -probably installing it back temporarily in the other vehicle- and check if still fully functional. If it does, then do as you thought it was the solution of the problem, to connect the negative to any bolt screwed in the chassis.

I actually got it working today. I resoldered my harness and checked connections, kept ground to the wiring harness and still didnt connect to chassis. It worked today although im not entirely sure why? The head unit has a removable screen that has a battery, i held down the menu button and it seemed to charge it up a bit and it worked.

Thanks for the input btw
