Hey guys, I need all you 240 lovers opinions. I have a 1990 240sx with a SR20det. It has alot of work done to it I have the car running perfect now, and looking perfect too (new paint etc.....) I have had it up for sale here on the posts and other places and finally found a buyer. But now I am having second thoughts about selling after going car shopping. I can't find anything I like, within a reasonable price. I am a poor college student that doesnt want loans, so I am restricted to a $8-$10k car. The other biggy on selling the SR20 is gas mileage. I will be going back to forth to school almost 100 per day and I only get about 250 per tank with 240. Also, I am 6'3 and the 240 fits me fine, but sometimes it can get really annoying. Kinda thinking of getting a 4-door. Any suggestions what to buy that will be economic in that price range? Please give me your opinons on what I should do in my scenrio. Thanks in advanced guys!

You can't find anything you like for $8-10k? Do you know what I drove in college? I sold my Glock 19 for $550 and bought a rusted out '73 Buick Century. You want to talk about gas mileage? Holy crap.

You could find a hell of a nice Maxima for that money.

lol. i don't even pay attention to my gas mileage. whenever it gets to like half a tank, i go ahead and fill up. seems like when it gets below half a tank, it goes by faaaassssst.

Yes, I agree with J-Spec... Crack kills, keep the SR. And if not, $8-10k? Are you kidding me? My budget was like $2-3k, and I found something. With $9,000 you should be able to find a decent car, with good gas mileage. And if your looking for economic, get a Corrolla. Great gas mileage and will last forever. (Sold mine for $500 w/240,000 miles, and only replaced a clutch)

My daily beater is a 1987 BMW 528e. They sell for about $5000-6000 around here. Mine has 202,000 miles and is still going strong. It's no where near fast, but I just got all the shocks replaced and it handles pretty well. It's an automatic, has full leather interior, power seats, windows, steering, sunroof, the whole nine yards. I get about 350 miles per 13 gallon tank, and it costs me a ~$21 to fill the tank up.

Even when I get the SR20 swap completed into the S13, I'll still be doing most of my driving in the BMW because of the sheer comfort level.

wow man, sux to have to give up the sr20, but do wat u gotta do, with an 8-10k range, id seriously consider an older maxima, or maybe even a grand prix, or galant, all have room enough for a bigger man (im 6'1) and are relaible, and the maximas and grandprix actually have a lil kick to em (prolly settle with a 97 or so) and the grandprix has an optional supercharger, however this would prolly put it out of your price range, hope i was some help, check eBAY for pricing just to get an idea of whats out there

Thanks for the input guys. I have decided to keep the SR20 and sell my other 240 after I fix it up a bit(new paint etc...) With the money I get from that I will buy a daily driver for school, probably an 95-97 toyota corolla because of their stong reliability and great gas mileage. Thanks again guys.

Anyone going to Georgia this year for the 240sx meet? That's another reason I wanted to keep to SR20, can't wait for a 16hour road trip!!!

Buy a brand new Hyundai Elantra from like 9k...60,000 bumper to bumper warranty and 100k on the powertrain.

Hell, you can buy a new Accent for under 6k, then buy another 240. If you want a car to just get around...does it really matter?
