Just recently, there is a loud, high pitched squeek coming out of the driver side rear end. It only makes the noise when moving and stops when I come to almost a complete stop. Does anyone know what this could be????

There isn't really any other way to describe the noise...its very high pitched and loud and makes the noise constantly until i am at a stop. I am checking the bearings right now...hopefully i didn't burn them out because they are $100 a piece.

I just went down to auto store and they said that the hub assembly going out is a common thing with the 240. Its about $110 for a new one. But I jacked the back end off the ground and spun the tire and it seems to get have a point where it gets hard to turn and then u pass that point and its easy again...the passenger side is completely free but i am thinking now that maybe it could be the rotor is warped...could that be a possibility??!??!?

I had the same problem with my lumina turned out to be the rear calipers. but try replacing the pads if that doesn't work then try bleeding it. if it still doesn't work try having the rotor cut or replaced. I don't think it would be the berarings they make a sort grinding metal noise and the wheel would get wobbley when those go bad.

Ive had to replace my hub bearnig assembly on the front passenger side in a parking lot before so its not incredibly difficult but that was in the front not sure if the back is more complicated guessing it is thoough. Even if it was your rotor thats very easy to replace, I doubt its your hub bearing assembly I'd just replace the pads and rotor on that wheel and see what happens, hey if you do the work yourself itd only cost you like 50 instead of 110 like you said for a new hub bearing assembly, my front one cost me 75 at a junk yard cause dealerships around me wanted 150 for the part and they would have had to order it.

I woud definitely do all you could before looking at the calipers. If it gets to that point, you might as well do the pads and rotors anyway, so hopefully you save a bit by not having to get into the caliper part.

Good luck!!!!!!!

I finally found out that it was the caliper...it wasn't releasing the pads off of the rotor...i went to my friends the other night and got there and smelled something burning...it was the pads...they were stuck to the rotor and it was glowing red...no i am not lying...bright red...so i brought it home and come to find out it was the caliper..so i paid the $68 and got a new one and replaced the pads on both sides...the problem is now fixed..thanks for everyones input!! :)

i have the exact same problem on my s14 in the exact same spot. it is a loud squeak. i think it is something to do with the suspension or the tire rubbing the fender well because it only does it on bumbs or in turns. my car is lowered 2 in. its not the brakes because i just got all new ones.
