A few days ago,I posted that my warm idle speed had increased from 650rpm,to 1200rpm in park. This began after flushing the radiator and hosing off the engine.Well, the problems have gotten stranger! First I notice transmission was shifting at a higher rpm than normal for the amount of given throttle, and today,on top of all this, now when I accelerate from a stop, the engine stays in first gear,up past 4000 rpm, with light throttle application, and seems to "slip",will not shift to higher gears and when stepping on gas,I feel the rpm go up without much acceleration, transmission malfunction light came on also.I have an appointment at Infiniti later this week, but looking for any insight you guys may have. The fluid was exchanged about 10 days ago,and has been every year, transmission was working as new before this idle problem started last weekend.please help!

(Did you flush the transmission fluid w/o a pan drop/clean and new filter before the flush?)

Actually it doesnt sound like a transmission problem though.

Bad MAF or more likely bad MAF connector.

-have your car run in "P"-open hood-go to black square on top of intake,-gently grab teh connector and wiggle it a bit-if your idle changes you found your problem--> MAF connector.

Hi Fred! I have flushed transmission with Mobil1atf every year, last pan drop and filter change last June, about 14000 miles ago,it was supprisingly very clean, both the filter and pan! very little to no buildup of gunk.I have discinnected and inspected MAF connector,no visible corrosion, wiggle & jiggled it,no change. How can a perfectly good transmission go so bad in one day?Maybe q45 tech will chime in and boost my spirits! I was so happy, just completing all the annual flushes with premium fluids, new 235/60 pilots, new brakes, steering boots, etc and now this!!!!!!!!!

I really doesnt sound like the transmission, the surgin idle is the givaaway.

MAF would have been easiest explanation.I still think its a sensor of some sort.

I once had, what I know know a MAF going out ,coulda just been the connestor.

The dealer claimed injectors bad, plugs fouled, payed almost $4000:(.

It could be a $147 fix or a $3000 repair.

BUT since it began after hosing down the engine, its gotto be a sensor , connector or some such.

I think the real spendy possbilities ( injectors) can be excluded with this data.

Dennis?

Jiggle the 3 connectors near the TB.

One thing I have learned from NICO is that when something is wrong with the Q, jiggle all the connectors. Especially the MAF connector ;)

I've experienced similar symptoms in the past. Fast idle, poor accelleration, totally goofed up shift points, and a transmission malfunction error. It was all caused by the throttle position sensor. (Don't adjust it!) Check the connector for condensation. Maybe yours got a little too wet...
