OK,heres the deal.I live in Japan at the moment and I own a tuning company in Yokohama called Okadiya.Im moving back to America for a while(the rest of 2003)to visit my father.Ive looked on the internet for a good cheap car and i just got into drifting in Japan and have an almost stock 180sx and a a lot of fast shop cars that me and my company own.I found an S14(what you call 240sx) kouki for $5000 to fix up and i am taking it back to Japan to use for the shop. What should i do to the car to make it good beginning drift car?I want to know alllllllllllll the details.from brakes to suspension and also THE MOTOR.I hear the KA is not a good motor so i am sending one of my SR20 black hats to put in the car for sure.ive tuned this engine for racing but never for drifting.is it ok to use the stock turbo in a drift car?do they have to have 300-400bhp to drift good?and do drift cars overheat to the point to where i will need aftermarket radiator?

I've heard that turbos can really screw with you when you drift when the boost kicks in... you can also feel it if you play Gran Turismo 3:D

Then again, there are tons of very successful turbo'd cars that drift, probably just something you need to get used to...

Edit: couldn't spell turbos...

You run a shop?

Worry about your suspension. I think you would be better off asking around there in Japan. This is one of the strangest posts Ive seen in a little while.

word?

I would say that here you will find it more difficult to get really good drift advice since people here are for the most part still trying to emulate the Japanese craze that drifting came here as.

I would suggest that you use the search function(red button on top right corner of page) and type in drift setup.

I would focus more on suspension for a good drift car, engine, differential and other things are for nothing without a solid foundation under it all.

If you're taking an S14 back to Japan, I think it'd be hilarious to keep the KA in there and make it a KA-T.Doubt there's too many of those over there. :) And while the KA isn't exactly a stock "performance" engine, it can be modified to be quite the beast. Plus, think of the originality factor! ;) That's why I'm not getting an SR over here, probably going RB seeing as it's far less common....But think about it, the torque-monster of a KA-T beating on SR's all day, ahh..... :D
