Im about to get my hands on a KA24DE+ transmission from a 95 sx and im gonna install it into a 92sx. What things will i need to watch out for and get for this swap?

Just for more insight on exactly what im getting heres what the guy im buyin the motor from originally wrote...

"Selling a KA24DE+ transmission from a 1995 240sx with ~120k miles. Engine still runs excellent, and I still have all the service records for it. It is currently still in the car, so potential buyers can drive it before it comes out. I am selling the engine and transmission combo, including all the accessories (ac/alt/ etc. etc) . What will not come with the engine is the main harness, the speed sensor, and temp. sensor. (those items can be easily picked up at any junk yard). I need these pieces for my SR swap."

Just another thing, your probably thinkin to urselves, why a ka24de swap instead of a sr20 or rb26, cause i cant afford it right now plus the motor in the 92 isnt workin. And this is a pretty cheap alternative. So any help on this swap will be greatly appreciated. Thnx

switch the intake manifolds and use your old harness on all of the sensors that it will hook up to. that way there wont be any problems with the ecu reading the "new" engine. its basically what i did when i installed the 2000 ka into my 94.

I put a 95 Motor in my 91 using the intake and hraness form the 91, i did disable the EGR and AIV. I have spark, fuel, and it tested about 100-120 compression cold. I cannot start the engine, i think it may be timing related-after several attempts to re stab the distributor i noticed the 95 distributor has an additional plug, is this my problem?

Ok i just got done installing a95 ka into my 91. Here is what you need to know.First of all i wouldnt and didnt pull my intake. I didnt want to mess with that. So you will need to do is pull your motor and while it is out of the car install your altinator on to the 95 motor and install you ac compressor mounting bracket. everything will bolt up like it is soposed to. im not sure on the 92 ka but i had to remove my exhaust header from my 91 and install it on to the 95 motor. which will cause you one problem. the tube that goes from the manafold to the header is to short and at the wrong angle for your motor. The quick fix is to cut the tube and get a tube that will slide over the area that you cut and it should work fine. What i did but i dont suggest it is i cut my heater hose and used that to connect the two ends. Ok now that that is fixed. Your speed sensor from your 92 will fit in the trany so no problems there. Ok here is where it gets American engineered, buy some rubber caps and seal off the vacume tubes that will not be used. You will need your distibuter from the 92 and make sure that you are at TDC on the 95 motor before you install if your are not you could spend hours trying to get it to run. That was my problem. i also had a problem connecting my heater hoses so you will need to get some new heater hoses, just buy the hose that comes by the foot it is easier to rout than pre formed hose. Ok now for the biggie some times the tail shaft bushing on the 95 tranys are to long so what you need to do is slide the bushing out and cut about a 3/8 of an inch off of the bushing and it will work fine. other than that all you have to do is connect the wiring and you should be done. I will say that there will be a few wires that arnt used but im not sure what effect thay have on the computer. My car runs great but the speed and rev limiter dont work go figure. Ok thats it if you need any help email me and ill be glad to help you.later,Joel

its probably the same intake on that engine anyways... i had to pull mine cuz the two were physically differerent. everything else you said, except for the distributor and its teeth, were the same as what i had to do... hows yours running now?

mine was not an auto, i replaced all my hoses tooI had a dist on the engine but broke it when i dropped it in and had to replace it(w/ 91-93), I was thinking it had to be timing. Also checked injectors today, and it seems all of them are spraying at the same time, is that correct?

on startup all the injectors spray at the same time. it creates a rich startup condition. perfectly normal. once the car is started, theyll go back to their sequences.

Cool thanks guys, I took out the KA24de and the transmission from thie 95 this saturday, good condition and sounds good, i should probably be putting it in next weekend. Also, its a manual transmission and the car is automatic, where can i find a manual swap kit that comes with everything ill need? I found one but its for a early model 240 for the KA24e single cam engine, does it make a big difference or could i use that one. Thanks alot Ill keep posting how my luck is going with this car, this is the only place where people have helped me with the swap question

Hey, do you know how to disable HICAS? I dont want that when i get my 240 up and running. Oh, and by the way, i ended up using the 91 240 instead of the 92 240 on this swap.

i just disconected th lines form the power steering to the hicas, when the hicas comp senses a problem it just locks the wheels staight. I presonally dont see a reason to buy a hicas canceling kit unless you need to spend 2-300$ to save 15-20 lbs
