I just recently replaced my oil and about 200 miles after I notice the oil light fading in and out. Like its going to come on but it doesnt. The light dims right before it gets to the brightest point. Also I just installed a Monster TACH, would that of had an effect on the oil light? I know the oil pressure is good because I have an oil pressure gauge and its reading 50 psi when I am driving. What could be wrong?

oh one more thing, before I flushed out the oil I added ATF and ran the car at idle for 5 minutes to clean up the internals. Would that have of caused anything?

yes, I bet thats your problem. You probably knocked loose some big sludge particles and now they are clogging the pickup screen. Time to undo some bolts :(

Or the wires could be loose on the oil pressure sensor. They put it right below the oil filter and I know that I poured oil on it every time I changed my oil. You might try seeing how much a new oil pressure sensor is and if it's not real expensive, replace it.

they're like 15 bucks for one. its not expensive at all. the only problem is you need a big *** socket to take it out, and its in kind of a tight spot.

What year os your car, has the oil been changes on time all the time?? If so I doubt you had any nasty clogged oil get stuck in the pickup. You have oil pressure, and the level is good. I'd check the wiring to the sensor. And as suggested, try the stock sensor for the light.

As a tip, I'd use moto flush instead of ATF.

I was told that engine flushes were a bad idea? And what about with a turbocharged motor?
