This is my first time posting on a forum so all help is welcome!

I recently purchased an 83 Nissan 720 2wd king cab pickup. The truck has been great until today. I felt and heard this weird sound coming from under the cab, not under the hood (not even going to attempt to describe it) while I was in 1st gear and a little into second. About a mile or so down the road it got worse and then it sounded like I "dropped" something. I got out and looked underneath of her and saw that my drive shaft had come disconnected from the transmission (or what I believe is my drive shaft- I'm no mechanic yet!). I'm really not even sure if I'm right in what I think it is. And now the truck won't drive. This happened roughly an hour or so ago. I'm hoping I can just reattach it? Please guide me!

Thanks!

If the bolts on the yolk flange (4 nuts and bolts in a circular pattern around a flat flange) are all that broke, it should be as easy as reconnecting and a few bolts. If your drive shaft is snapped clean down the middle, there's a great classified section on nico. Welcome and good luck.

So I got underneath today and took some pics. It looks as if there's torn rubber (support bearing?) On the transmission side. I'm missing 2 bolts and all 4 nuts. I'm not sure how to put the pics up here, but can email them. The drive shaft seems to be intact.

Problem solved. I bad a bad front u joint. Replaced that and reattached the drive shaft at the center support bearing and now I'm back on the road! Definite shifts smoother and rides nicer.
